official describes operation of lcb leeman and 2 lu students escape injury in auto crash and is killed the elements that form this drama involve a motley bunch of cussing sweating fighting gobs their captain and their ensign but the essence of the play author thomas heggen seems to say is that the real war isn't be tween screaming kami kaze divers and booming anti-aircraft guns the real war isn't the glorified pic ture of a bloodthirsty g i nestled behind a blazing sub-machine gun it is a hidden pernicious force that rips away the nature and prestige of a people the fight then is against the intangibles of hate monotony and malcontent rather than agaiast the all-too-visible japs these ileas wore shown in a letter by mr roberts when ho told ensign pulver that the war we were fighting took us on a trip from boredom to apathy with an occa sional stop-off at monotony the turils will now lumber down from his podium fnd ex p'ain the reason for his silly little lecture the m&c players acted out these concepts with a strange anomaly of excellence and failure mr roberts had moments by john kozeito it would be easy to slough off mustard & cheese's friday night production of mr roberts as a typical college production it would be easy to toss around con descending phrases like tried hard or somewhat competent or has potential and it would not be difficult to accuse the players of not relating to the play or even to themselves except for two salient points the play itself and the m&c charac terization the fact that m&c met with considerable difficulty in present ing the finished product should not concern us the theater-goer does not ; ttend a play to sympathize with the troubles of the director oi 1 producer he attends to see a fantasy that will temporarily amuse and involve him any other factors are extraneous as for the play itself on the surface mr roberts may appear to be an earthy ti le of a few liberty starved sailors led by a frustrated lieutenant who wants to be a real part of the war mr roberts does eventually become a real part of the pacific turmoil up until the moment when the drama reaches its climax as roberts throws the captain's palm see marienbad page 4 sheltermate no 21 by j j stives with a ratio of less than one agent per 150 liquor licensees the pennsylvania state liquor control board's enforcement staff is ob viously undermanned dean r fisher one of the lcb's three top officials said recently in an exclusive interview with the brown and white fisher told of the work of the board and later conducted b&w reporters on a tour of the harrisburg headquarters of the lcb fisher pointed out in the interview that the lcb presently has about 150 agents throughout the state who are charged with enforcing ~"~~"— ~~ the liquor code among some 23,000 licensed dealers in taverns restau rants and bars we are obviously understaffed . . . and we are recruiting like mad fischer said he added that recruiting for agents is a difficult md prolonged task requiring men of exceptional integrity and de pendability who will be working for minimal wages lcb agents must meet higher requirements than state police re cruits fisher said yet the agents get lower starting wages they must undergo a complete investigatioa of their character and personal histories which is a more complete check than is car ried out for any state employees fisher said that what mo3t people fail to discover is the ex tent of ike lcb's work outside the area of actual enforcement of the liquor code he pointed out that the board maintains facilities purchase storage supply and re clamation of all liquors and wines sold in the state the entire inventory of all liquor warehouses and 685 state stores is constantly maintained fisher said through the use of this data-pro cessing unit which uses the tapes from cash registers in all stores the tapes are scanned by the op tical scanner unit and then the see lcb page 3 lyn — when an 18-year-old blonde tells a reporter thai she likes music horses jazz the beach water skiing deep sea fishing sailing golf and robert gouiet what else is there left to write gerald g leeman varsity wrestling coach and two lehigh stu dents were involved in an auto accident saturday night in which an allentown man was killed neither leeman nor the two students were injured the driver of the other car luis rivera medina 234 hamilton st allentown d ;
