tubby miller and jim heilman as ball carriers the team is not lacking in a number of fast shifty backs the brooklyn boys are coming to taylor field this year with the hope of repeating their performance of two years ago when they de feated the brown and white eleven in its opening game by a score of 7-0 last year st john's was also listed as the season's opening op ponent this game resulted in a scoreless tie the brooklyn team has always been very fast in past years and has resorted mainly to an aerial attack and the lehigh coaches are expecting the same sort of tactics this season the brown and white varsity thanks to the strenuous training program of austy tate and his as sistants hymie goldman and chuck hess is in splendid physi cal condition scrimmages have been almost daily occurrences with in the past two weeks and the men feel that the game tomorrow will almost be a let down when com pared to the workouts that they have been having the result of this training program is that le high should have a hard driving team that should be able to play an entire game at nearly top speed beside the varsity team there is plenty of good material available among the scrubs so that should anything happen to any of the first string players austy will be able to call on these men for replace ments the length of the periods of to morrow's game will depend en the field many amus ing incidents especially while sounding the lake served to keep everyone in a joyful mood at lake mineola a couple of freshmen got tangled up with the two hundred foot sounding chain while others used the fifteen foot sounding board as a rudder for the eight foot boat the distrubing factor at saylor's lake proved to be the charming young ladies paddling around in canoes and asking plenty of ques tions in the art of canoe tipping hand and carl miller took first place by walking ashore from their first canoe trip the day that pres c r rich ards and vice president nat m emery made their annual visit proved a banner day dr emery lost his self composure laughing at prof uhler singing the song about eagles flying high bill cuntz and his trick hat helped the sale of the pictures courses and demonstrations of things not regularly in the course were given at odd times beerman gave a course in applied language the details of which win getchel can give norm schriner
