continuously from friday to saturday night coach kanaly's men make good time on soggy cinder path outgoing and incoming boards convene m b tate 20 new arcadia president student support needed score 61=43 schultz takes a first and second seven other firsts for lehigh lohnson on mound for lehigh rest of team as in last lafayette game with the baseball season being brought to a close tomorrow le high has witnessed a successful season in baseball both the varsity and freshman teams having won the majority of the games plajed the freshmen were late in or ganizing their team and it was not until the latter part of april that the team was developed into good shape due to the untiring efforts of coach bartlett f v wilson was elected manner and n s c mawbey appointed assistant .■. tuia ger when the season was well started f v wilson gave up his position to play on the tennis team mawbey succeeded to the position of manager the season was opened with a defeat issued at the handis of beth lehem prep the team played two short games with the sophomores and came out on the long end of the outgoing arcadia board met in drown hall at 7 30 o'clock ! wednesday evening and at the | termination of this meeting the new board for the coming year recently elected by the members of | the respective living groups was j organized among the subjects brought up by the old board were matters per taining to the coming college meeting friday of particular note was the statement that the faculty has definitely decided to leave the 11 o'clock period on fri c 1 lys free on the rosters arranged iy.r next yoi».r tills period is to be used as was the case in former years before conditions made a change necessary as a time for j college and class meetings daring the first part of the first j meeting wednesday night no ae 1 tion could be taken as there was continued on second page the victory or wjelcome-home reunion as it is also called promises to be the biggest alumni day ever held at lehigh the date is saturday june 28 this year every class is holding a reunion and it is for this reason that the crowd is expected to exceed that of all other alumni day gatherings the usual class get-together banquets will be held on friday night and for the members of those classes not holding banquets 1 there will be plenty of entertainment at the bethlehem club including music and a buffet lunch continued on third page the first event on the schedule for saturday is commencement which will be held in the chapel at 10:30 besides the usual confer ring of degrees there are to be several result of the elections held in drown hall wednesday after noon the following men will be at the helm of the class of 21 for the coming year : d c pfeiffer president e w burgess and j w hood tied for vice-president 11 p walmsley secretary p f wialker treasurer g l child athletic repre sentative j 0 schonhardt historian w h sayre sergt.-at arms final examination roster june 16 to june 25 1919 the brown and white baseball nine is in the best of condition to meet lafayette in the last and de cisive struggle of the annual series the game is scheduled to start at 3 30 sharp and with favorable weather conditions it is expected that one of the largest crowds that ever witnessed a baseball contest at taylor field will be on hand to urge and cheer their respective teams to victory the maroon and white nine en tered the second game of the series overconfident as a result of their lucky victory in the initial contest but soon found that they were up against a combination which was hard to beat when going right and it is doubtful if they will consider the final game to be an easy victory on the other hand the lehigh team which by loose playing and weak hitting fairly handed the first game to the visitors realized that to win the series meant two hard fought successive victories and the article of ball displayed by every man on the team last satur day showed that he meant to put every ounce of skill and fight into the game that he possesed the result was that not a misplay was made and when hits were needed they were forthcoming the fighting spirit of the team is acknowledged to be one of the main factors in its ability to win and the only way for this spirit to be instilled in every man is for the student body to turn out in full force to cheer until they are hoarse and the time when this cheering is needed the most is when the team is behind lafayette is sending a large dele gation of rooters up and it is the duty of every man to be on hand to cheer the team on to victory swede johnson who has proved so effective against the eastonians in the sixteen innings he has worked against them will again be coach keady's mound choice while herington will do the receiving beck will be at third base in all probability as his play ing in the last game was one of the features while he at present is leading the team in hitting the rest of the line-up will be the same as in the two previous contests tierney is slated to oppose john son and should he suffer the same fate as in the first game moyer will again be called upon to re lieve him town men notice meeting of those town men who are not represented by any living group among fraternities and dormitories at drown hall mon day june 16 at 12 00 m to elect an arcadia representative frosh meeting the last meeting of the fresh man class was held in packer hall wednesday noon for the purpose of nominating officers for next year the elections were held in drown hall on thursday between 1 and 5 p.m ad journed lehigh completed one of her most successful track seasons wed nesday afternoon by defeating the muhlenberg cinder path artists on their own field to the tune of 61 to 43 the weather seemed at first to forbid the meet but finally about three o'clock in the afternoon old sol put his head out and produced an ideal chy for the contest and lehigh made good ! from the very outset the meet was decided for the brown and white men were in ex cellent shape and prepared to run the race of their lives 1 . the first event was the 100-yard dash in which schultz won first place and rie.be cornered a second considering the condition of the track it was n.n exceedingly fast race being run in 10 2-5 seconds schultz showed wonderful form in this event and although he got a poor start he soon made it up in the second event the high hurdles miuhlemberg polled through with first place with gelly pushing him hard for the position erb muhlenberg i s star then won the half mile in one of the prettiest races ever run on the allentown track merkle won second during this race the discus was won by wills of muhlenberg while weber won the second place lehigh then cornered the mile in good style boyd ran the best race of the season and easily defeated the allentown men and esterson duplicated the performance by winning second place great credit is due to boyd for this event for he went into it totally unfit for win ning on account of some stomach trouble nevertheless evfin though handicapped he ran a superb mile in less than five minutes both places in the 440-yard dash were also won by lehigh halde mann winning first and doan cross ing the tape just behind him weber proceeded to duplicate the track winnings by tying up the shot-put with a thirty-six foot two inch heave the two hundred and twenty low hurdles were then run with the re sult that kleine of muhlenberg getting the initial points and sehultz of lehigh taking the suc ceeding place this was schultz s first attempt to run the hurdles and it was rather a remarkable per formance there were two heats in this event but no finals were run the time as made in the heats stood for the race the two-mile run was easily gathered up by carr of lebigh in a fast race gerlach of lehigh also placed in this event muhlenberg completely won the broad jump with a nice leap of 21 feet 5 inches kleine and reinartz taking
