next sunday mr wayburn will arrive here to meet with the executive com mittee of the club and stay ov preparation for the mustard and cheese show is now well under way the final weekly rehearsal for the cast and chor us will be held wednesday eve ning at seven-thirty in the au ditorium of drown hall all those men who have dropped out from these weekly rehearsals are urged to come to this final rehearsal as there is still an opportunity to secure a place in the cast or chorus the mem bers of this year's cast and chorus will be picked next mon successful smoker held by frosh holds first open for moving-up day as may 14 several plans were discussed for the program for the day but nothing definite was de cided any suggestion as to apparel will be welcomed by the committee it is now working of the industrial engineering society was held in coppee hall last thursday evening although the meeting was open to all stu dents the majority of those present were from the curri cula of business administra tion electrical engineering and industrial engineering the main feature of the meeting was a lecture by mr p c staples vice-president of the bell telephone company of pennsylvania who talked on the relations between the tele phone industry and the general public mr staples lecture was exceedingly interesting for it contained much valuable in formation mr staples is an authority on the subject as the department of the bell tele phone company of which he is the head deals with public relations toward the close of the meeting a short business ses sion was conducted for the pur pose of discussing plans for projects to be attempted in the near future lehigh university calender displaying by far the best form of their season the le high freshman wrestling team overwhelmed the cornell year lings by a 19-6 score in a meet held last saturday afternoon in the taylor gymnasium the brown and white was never headed and the result of the contest which was witnessed by several hundred spectators was clearly evident from the start time decisions gained by trousdell and johnson in the 125 and 175-pound classes re spectively were responsible for the ithacan point total coach sheridan's grapplers registered two falls and three decisions in the remainder of the matches 115 pounds j woodward lehigh threw merrim cornell with half nelson and crotch hold time 2:10 woodward started the pro ceedings auspiciously by quick ly pinning his opponent and jones followed his example in the 135-pound bout silvernian c lehr and e blackmar were awarded time advantages in the heavier divisions although lehr was forced to wage an uphill battle to defeat ernest the summary 125 pounds trousdell cor nell defeated g vaughn le high with time advantage of 9:14 continued on page four 135 of the large attendance and the prevailing atmosphere of friendship bosey reiter was intro duced as the first speaker of the evening he commented on the fact that the hello spirit is rapidly growing extinct and that this negligence is an ex pression of the student's in ward feelings as usual bos ey's speech contained many quotations from well-known po ets everyone not only enjoy ed the talk but also carried away bosey's message bosey's interesting talk was followed by the touch down song which served as an introduction to coach percy wendell the latter favored the class with a few words about the coming football sea son andy buchanan the well known magician amused the group with some new tricks which baffled everyone pres ent he performed the disap pearing beer bowl trick and al though many have seen it be fore it remained a complete mystery the evening was formally brought to a close by the class singing the alma mater dough nuts and root-beer were served and enjoyed by all frosh swimmers lose to rutgers boxing bouts to be held in gym succumb to undefeated scarlet mermen be hotly contested intra-mural meet should the lehigh varsity basket eers won its third game against the lafayette five last saturday night by a score of 39-20 this was also the fifth consecutive victory for the team there was no doubt of the outcome of the battle as the home team took the lead from the beginning and retained it throughout the game it was evident that lafayette was making its last effort for a lost cause and as a result the game was characterized by rough playing and long shooting at the end of the first half lafayette was putting up a hard fight the score at that time being 13-8 it was in the second half that lehigh open ed up and began to play real basketball the sensational shooting of smith and mo schaub featured the game and brought the gallery to its feet time after time brilliant pass ing and guarding by hesse billmeyer and berman were instrumental in piling up the score the absence of earl schaub on the bench with a bad ankle was noticeable although hesse played well mo schaub took the high scoring honors with five field goals and six free throws ced smith who was the captain for the evening also rang up five field goals leisenring and mc guire starred for lafayette scoring three-quarters of their teams points between them this is lehigh's
