dramatic club will present the fair co=ed for its 33d annual production the junior week festivities be gan last night with the sophomore cotillion club dance in drown hall and the freshman dance at the sigma nu house the course dinner which opened the festivities last year was omitted this year as it did not prove a sufficient success drown hall was very appropri ately decorated with an abundance of american flags dropped from the center and on all sides while the lights were covered with greens about eighty-five couples attended and danced far into the morning to the excellent moisie furnished by market's orchestra of new york city the program consisted of twenty dances and four extras while a supper was served after the first half the freshman dance was in progress at the same time at the sigma nu house and was well at tended by the members of the class and house party guests the mu sic was furnished by white's banjo orchestra while the committee in charge was f m keiser chairman t 11 milson h f sheetz r b honeyman and l f ruf tonight the junior prom will be held in drown hall at nine o clock and from present indications the function will surpass that of previ ous years the committee in charge is composed of e c^davidson,.m e johnson l sargeant a e bu chanan s vance r c alden and e a moo ers rushton's orches tra of philadelphia has been en gaged to furnish the music while | light refreshments will be served during the course of the evening tomorrow afternoon the brown and white lacrosse team will battle with the carlisle indian twelve on taylor field thirty-third annual spring production the fair co ed a clever musical comedy by george ade the production will be staged at the grand opera house south bethlehem and will begin at 8 o'clock although none of the dormitory sections and only eight of the fra ternities are holding house parties over the week end the number of guests attending the festivities is not much smaller than that of last year the hotels of the bethlehems are filled to capacity math junior week visitors and the allentown hostelries also have numerous registrations tomorrow evening the mustard and cheese club will present its thirty-third annual production the fair co-ed at the grand opera house south bethlehem the advance sale of tickets has sur passed records for several years back and those who have been fol lowing the progress of the perform ance at rehearsals feel sure that a large audience will be highly pleased with the efforts of the club rehearsals have been going on steadily since january andl every detail has been carefully perfected both in the cast and the chorus work novel and attractive adver tising methods have been adopted this year with the result that every one is looking forward to the fair co-ed considerable curi osity and speculation was caused by announcements on signs and post j ers that the beautiful actress who is to play the lead was keeping her identity secret but that anyone who identified her wouldl be pre sented with free tickets the climax was reached this morning at fourth and new streets when a stylishly dressed young lady was addressed as ' ' the fair co-ed by a man who had been following her for several min utes she indignantly walked away but the youth insisted that she was the actress a policeman noticed the disturbance and came to the assistance of the girl an argument ensued a crowd collected and con siderable excitement was aroused in the midst of the row a fast road ster dashed up to the curb the young lady sprang in and as the machine started away snatched off a handsome brunette wig and flung out a handful of cards announcing the mustard and cheese produc tion the play was written by george ade for the dramatic club of his own university it was such a suc cess that miss elsie janis had it slightly remodeled and starred in it for some time the play is splendidly adapted to a college production the scene is laid in a small military college bingham college the heroine is the only co-ed left at the college the faculty having ruled out all the rest making an exception in her case because her father was one of the first alumni all of the male students are smitten by her charms and forty seniors have proposed but all are in doubt as to whom is most favored the co-ed secretly favors davy dickerson who has been in college for six years and has accumulated enough conditions to keep him another six in order to test his sincerity cynthia de cides to go to the junior prom dis guised as her cousin jimmy a stu dent at annapolis the second act shows the ball with cynthia the lion of the even ing with the ladies and consequent ly decidedly unpopular with the continued on fifth page to combine the best qualities of past volumes and to add new features in an attractive manner is the accomplishment of the 19 18 epitome board for some time this volume has shown little varia tion though now and then new features summaries of the seasons of various athletic teams illustrated with snaps and indi vidual photographs this section presents few new features the book itself is dedicated to archibald johnston 89 but the senior class book unlike that of last year is not dedicated to an individual apparently the class book committee did not desire to destroy the unity of the book a thing so marked in the issues since the class book and epitome are combined first by dedicating to the living dead — those men who have left college before their senior years — the committee hit upon a happy idea then this section was made to blend with the entire volume as no attempt was made tc make it stand out too prominently here there are a few noticeable shifts in the editing for honors are first and favorite expression swarthmore twelve and it was in the period of his jurisdic tion as coach that he turned out a team which defeated the canadian champions a feat never before nor since performed by a team of colle lewis brobst alden and o'brien are the other regular men and have all played in parts of games last year the work of these new men together with the substitutes who entered the perm state game was which keeps the candid atesi constantly putting forth their best efforts there is not a weak spot in the entire line up to penetrate the lehigh de fense is no easy task and the attack could hardly be
