agency directory the result of the first contest on lehigh's gridiron this fall result ed most satisfactorily to the brown and white men albright college went down to defeat to the tune of 33 to 0 at the hands of the big brown team last wednesday after noon at no time during the game did the outcome look in the least doubtful nor did albright even have the least chance to score le high played with a vim and snap that it will be difficult to surpass or even equal the back-field play ing brilliantly both individually and collectively and the line forming a defence and attack that gave al bright considerable trouble in fight ing except for a number of fumbles due to the wet condition of the field lehigh made few errors on ly one forward pass was attempted by the brown team and this one was successful the visitors how ever attempted a number and work ed several ; the others however proved disastrous for they were either lost entirely or fell into the arms of some alert lehigh man lehigh received the kick-off the ball falling into the arms of grum back after two downs lehigh considered it wise to punt conse quently the ball was received by al bright on their 30-yard line the visitors then attempted their first forward pass which failed the next move by albright also failed when they attempted to punt and it was blocked lehigh recovering the ball on albright's 35-yard line two plunges followed which netted the home team a first down being in a favorable position keady at tempted a drop-kick but it fell short by several yards albright was then given the ball on her 25-yard and in four downs failed to gain ten yards thus forfeiting the ball to lehigh on the former's 28-yard line keady again failed on the drop-kick and albright punted back to him in three plunges lehigh again made a first down which was continued on fourth page followed by a second first down made in two plays thus putting the ball on albright's 5-yard line in le high's possession the third down following this saw the ball over the goal-line in the arms of whitney keady kicked the goal making the score 7 to 0 on the next kick-off pazzetti re ceived the ball and made a spectac ular run eluding all his opponents but one on the next play a fum ble by lehigh gave albright the ball in her own territory and the quar ter was at an end the second quarter opened with a failure at a forward pass by al bright the ball being snapped up by whitney two more first downs by lehigh were followed by her second touchdown made by keady who also kicked the goal score 14 to 0 the next kick-off was received for lehigh by macmillen at this point flick was substituted for whitney two plunges giving le high a first down were followed by a long run by flick the only for ward pass tried by lehigh during the entire game was then success fully worked netting her a first down flick then carried the pig skin over the goal-line for the third touchdown keady failed to kick the goal score 20 to 0 several substitutions on the brown team were here made and the half ended with the ball in albright's possession on her 20-yard line the third quarter was opened by lehigh kicking to albright after two downs albright punted to whit ney and lehigh immediately re turned it a successful forward pass by albright netted the visitors about ten yards encouraged by this a second pass was attempted only to be received by whitney three first downs were made by lehigh in quick succession flick keady and flick again being the runners whitney next carried the ball for a touchdown and keady rifle club men interested in the rifle club are requested to attend a meeting of the same at 1.30 o'clock to*-mor row afternoon in drown hall ross e amos agent for beegee glass ink eraser cameron hoffman agent for electrical world and electrical engineering section c taylor hall m mccaffrey agent for mccaa's studio of photography section d taylor hall f w green agent for weber drawing instruments 338 vine street the brown and white lehigh university bethlehem pa friday september 27 1912 lehigh defeats albright on slippery field no 2 changes in foot-ball rules eleven points of interest to foot-ball enthusiasts initial football game of the season won by score 33 to 0 whitney keady and flick score touchdowns for lehigh on account of the numerous and important changes in the foot-ball rules for 1912 the brown and white publishes the following list of changed rules : changes in 1912 foot ball rules first — playing field formerly 1 10 yards in length is shortened to an even 100 yards this change in it self is not vital but is made in order to make possible on small grounds an extension on territory in which the forward pass may be used second — a zone of ten yards width beyond the goal-lines is es tablished the purpose of this is to provide amply space for execu tion of the forward pass and scor ing on a pass made across the goal line into this zone is permitted third — the number of downs to gain ten yards is increased from three to four fourth — the value of touch downs is increased from five to six points the goal from touchdowns and other scores standing as at present fifth — the twenty-yard zone mi which the former rules provide re strictions to interfere w r ith the for ward pass is eliminated so that the restrictions will apply now to any part of the field sixth — after a touchback the ball will be put in play from the twenty-yard line instead of the twenty-five-yard line seventh — on a kick-off the ball instead of being put in play from the center of the field will be kicked from the forty-yard line of the team kicking off taking into con sideration the shortening of the field and this change in the rules the kick is lengthened by five yards eighth — the field judge is elimi nated ;
