continued on supplement 1916 class elections saturday afternoon lehigh lost to lafayette the second game of the series in a well-played game of ball on march field the maroon and white by capturing this game clinched the 1913 series it was a pitchers battle in which both flingers did splendid work fa ger held lehigh to one hit while five hits were made off shellenber ger the former had seven strike outs to his credit while the brown and white moundsman had four o'keefe started things in the first inning by hitting a long fly to left field which edwards caught but failed to hold o'keefe going to second bell bunted and was out at first while the little third-base man went to third fager hit mac hardy the inning closed with no runs by wright being out on a foul fly and keady being put out at first base lafayette was more fortunate in her half of the inning edwards got to first on a swift grounder blackburn bunted ad vancing edwards and also landed safely at the initial sack himself helfrich was an easy out at first meyers walked as did altschuler forcing in run the side was re tired by laubach hitting the ball in front of the plate resulting in a double play only three men faced fager in the second inning and a like num ber faced shellenberger lafayette scored again in the fourth inning altschuler was out at first laubach rolled a slow one across the diamond and got to first due to an error but was forced out at second when dannehower knock ed a grounder to chenoweth mau continued on supplement prof stewart addressed the arts and science club at the last meet ing of the year held in saucon hall thursday evening he spoke on founders of the american cons titution and made clear that this great document was not drawn up hastily by an august body of citi zens and then adopted immediately by all the states the election of officers for next year resulted as follows p sanderson president j h dief enderf er vice-president ; vice president search ; secretary gey er treasurer wiegand histori an eshbach athletic representa tive greene the epitome board brown royall boyd schuyler read humphrey geyer hoffman notice the elections of officers for next year's sophomore class were held friday noon after college meeting a clause in the constitution states that to be elected a candidate must receive half of the number of votes cast and failing in this the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes shall be balloted on later a second ballot was nec essary saturday noon on the offices of president vice-president and treasurer the final results follow : president e k adams vice president h e sanford secre tary j e shields ; treasurer e j clement athletic representative g e sawtelle historian w a cannon notice the junior reception to the se niors will be held at drown hall june 9th immediately after the mustard and cheese show the committee has taken pains to make the affair successful in every way the price to undergraduates — ju niors sophomores and freshmen — will be two dollars this reduction being made to encourage a bet ter attendance this affair is a col lege function and considering the reasonable price should have a good representation of college men good music and good refresh ments are promised by the commit tee attendance of the student body is required the election of the assistant manager of the base ball team by the student body will be held on wednesday may 28th from 1 0 a m t until noon and from 1 p m to 3 p m in drown hall at a meeting of the executive committee held this week the fol lowing statement was adopted : the executive committee of the lehigh university athletic com mittee has made a thorough inves tigation of the supposed irregulari ty in the recent baseball election of candidates for assistant manager it has verified 12 of the 13 ballots cast by having each player corrob orate his ballot one of the ballots has been lost but the statement of the voter of the lost ballot has been obtained and it in no wise changes the result of the original vote the committee finds that the whole misunderstanding arose from the fact that a number of the play ers verbal statements for whom they voted do not agree w r ith their actual verified ballots the com mittee therefore accepts the origi nal ballot as correct seniors and sophomores can get calculus cremation tickets at the supply bureau on wed nesday may 28 from 1:00 to 3:00 p m seniors are entitled to two tickets sophomores four faculty members may secure tickets at the university office the position of assistant busi ness manager of the brown and white is open to competition to all members of the freshman class all who intend to try for this posi tion will report at the brown and white room in drown hall to day may 27th at 4 p m the brown and white lehigh university v / *™!?^ j bethlehem pa tuesday may 27 1913 prof stewart gives address vol xx arcadia election question settled electricals hold last meeting no 58 lafayette wins series d m petty of bethlehem steel company gives address election of officers talks to arts and science club on the american constitution officers elected takes second game by small margin brown and white does good work plan suggested in communication to brown and white adopted athletic elections held a short but important college meeting was held in packer hall on friday morning the meeting was well attended over five hun dred men being present the first matter taken up was that concerning suitable insignia to be granted to members of the ten nis team since tennis has recently been made a minor sport after a short discussion it was moved sec onded and passed that a player hav ing been entered in seventy-five per cent of the matches of a season should be granted the letters l a a to be worn only on a ten nis shirt the personnel of the new arca dia which had been left undecided at the last meeting was next con sidered after some discussion it was moved that the scheme as sug gested in a recent communication to the brown and white should be adopted the motion was pass ed in a slightly amended form by this scheme twenty-six men continued on third page seniors election notice members of the senior class can get tickets for the june hop be tween 1 and 2 p m sharp on saturday may 31 in drown hall election of officers for the com ing term comprised the most im portant business at the may meet ing of the electrical engineering society held on friday night the seniors wound up their affairs and handed over the work to the elect ed officers reports of treasurer and secretary were read and the nominations were then held for the offices for president w b todd and j s gemmel were nominated and voted upon at once on the vote todd was elected for vice-president j s gem mel r a laedlein and h d baldwin were nominated gemmel was elected g forster and h c griffith were nominated for secretary and forster was elected the treasurer's office went to h d baldwin elections were also held for offi cers of the wireless club which holds its meets in conjunction with the e e society the officers as elected were f c brockman president m o andrews secretary and a f glass treasurer on account of the absence of todd gemmel presided over the meeting for the remainder of the evening he introduced d m pet y 09 of the bethlehem steel co
