wins from lehigh second string i men by 12 to 2 on wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock the bethlehem prepara j ' tory school team and the lehigh j - scrubs met in a seven inning game ] on the lehigh field perfect base ' ball weather prevailed which fact * seemed to stimulate both teams to •' the utmost for they worked hard ■and played with snap the game < wa's marked by no particular fea 1 tures 1 in the beginning lehigh took 1 the field and allowed prep but one j run prep then took the field and i were met by 1 towards double j vela then singled to centre scoring 1 howard the inning ended 2to 1 1 in favor of lehigh from this time on prep seemed ( to have the better of the argument : and scored their runs in bunches due partly to several errors by the ; scrubs score 12-2 the line up : < beth prep scrubs continued on fourth page all preparations made for annual production it is safe to say that the show which will be produced by the mustard and cheese club tomor row evening will surpass any show heretofore given by the club the college widowers is the twenty sixth play to be produced by the mustard and cheese which ante dates the mask and wig club by three years thos b donaldson the former popular coach of le high shows is responsible for the libretto and a number of the clever rhymes which enliven the play and give the audience a breathing spell between laughs other lyrics are by gousha colling and coach downing the show is staged by c l downing of philadelphia for years a popular feature in the perm shows and coach of last year's successful play this year the dances will be a feature an other innovation will be an entirel ■; original musical program all the melodies being written by e s colling 12 w r ho contributed such pleasing songs to king popocater pillar a feature in this year's show will be college bells a song which bids fair to out-rank student-land in popularity in the cast will be seen faces old and new to followers of lehigh shows bryant 13 dunbar 13 w'arrington 12 culliney 12 and smyth 12 are all well known cunningham 12 liebig 14 lambert 12 baird 14 lopez 14 and faust 14 are new men but men who will make enjoyable every minute of their appearance on the stage each has a good part and plays it well the chorus is excellent the cast is very capa ble the lines and lyrics are ex tremely clever the music is de lightful — altogether the play is par excellence and will undoubtedly bring great credit to all connected with it and to the spectators will leave the memory of a very pleas ant evening senior class officers the following officers of the senior class were elected at a re cent meeting : poet mccreary ; presentation orator poffenberger ; prophet tarbell tablet orator rehfuss ; ivy orator graham e e reinke b a 08 m a 09 fellow in biology at prince ton university has been appointed by the carnegie institution to as sist in a biological expedition in jamaica continued on fourth page john fritz is one of the speakers of the evening in accordance with a time-hon ored custom the members of the civil engineering society held their annual spiel on wednesday evening last at the university com mons during the short busiuess session which preceded the feast the fol lowing officers for the ensuing year were elected : president w c solly ; treasurer h l cooper ; secretary w e mccomas mr fritz was made an honorary . member of the society and all the 1914 men in the c e course were elected to membership the meeting was honored by the presence of mr john fritz and it was appreciated as a great honor that a man of mr fritz's age and eminence in the profession should give his presence at this student meeting he received a most hearty welcome and on being called on made a notable and impressive ad dress drawn from the wealth of his experience in the course of his remarks he said : it affords me much pleasure to meet you on such an occasion as this all my life i have taken great interest in the young and es pecially in those who are earnestly preparing to take their place in the world there is one thing i wish to indelibly impress upon you and that is to despise everything that is not clean and honest in all your business transactions as between man and man it is not possible for a dishonest person to command the respect of good and great peo ple and what is life worth if the good people of the world look on you with indifference there is a wide difference be tween age and youth the young are full of energy and are hopeful with visions of the future age dreams of the past and reminis cences over dear departed friends and these reminiscences have magic power to summon memories too deep for words dr drinker spoke warmly of the work that mr fritz has done and of the good record that the c e society has made for itself prof mckibben spoke of his re cent trip to jamaica and panama his talk was largely descriptive of the island of jamaica touching | particularly on the approach to the harbor the numerous tunnels — about 70 in number made neces sary by the volcanic cone forma tions on the island and the man fraternities and dormitories have guests for junior week the )•■ivities of the short in termissiok have brought quite a large number of guests to town several of the fraternities are hold ing house parties and section a of the dormitories has been turned over to the guests of students rooming at the dorms the guests at the dormitories are : misses gangwer and knight of south bethlehem ; misses rasmers gore scott and eield of balti more ; misses wood and koch of philadelphia miss barto of pine grove pa ; miss libby of bridge port conn ; miss fithian of bridgeton n j theta delta chi mrs t petigrew of new york city mrs t f price of dan ville ;
