hygiene lecture by dr w l estes on friday morning at 11 80 o'clock dr estes delivered the third of his lectures on hygiene to the freshman class in packer mall the subjects which he dis cussed most particularly were the alimentary canal the circula tory system and a well balanced diet in his discussion of the alimentary system dr estes outlined the complete course of the food from the time it enters the body till it is absorbed by the blood and explained the functions of the various organs and the in juries to which each is susceptible in discussing the circulatory system the complete course of the blood was shown by means of charts and its functions explained dr estes then showed that if the blood were in a healthy condition a person would be only slightly susceptible to sickness speaking about well balanced diets dr estes said that it is harmful to live on either a simple vegetable diet or one of albuminous foods exclusively the result of the former is the production of superfluous fat with slowness of intellect and of the latter rheuma tism and gout with an irritable disposition hence the only proper way is to proportion one's diet so as to use both vegetable and albuminous foods throughout the lecture dr estes illustrated his remarks by means of charts and statistics leaves college colgate 25 lehigh 24 in one of the fastest games of basket ball of the season
