saturday april 16 — junior class meeting in saucon hall at 12 o'clock nomination of officers for next year lacrosse game lehigh vs co lumbia on lehigh field at 3 p m sunday apkjl 17 — y m c a meeting in drown hall at 6.30 p m wednesday april 20 — brown and white board meeting in drown hall at 12 o'clock lacrosse game lehigh vs c c n v on lehigh field at 3 p m freshman class meeting at 12 o'clock in saucon hall lafayette tennis match the first tennis match of the season will be held next wednes day may 20 with lafayette at home try-outs for the team will be held on next saturday begin ning at 1 o'clock for both singles and doubles any one wishing to try for the tennis team must pre sent himself at the courts on satur day before 3 p m and play off his challenge y m c a meeting subjects discussed at meeting of electrical society the regular april meeting of the electrical engineering society was held in the physical laboratory on tuesday evening at 7:30 the first paper was by l dunn ing 10 on the " purification of water there are three main methods of accomplishing this first by mechanical filtration second by chemical processes and lastly by electrolytic means the electrolytic process by the use of ozone was de scribed in detail together with the method of producing the ozone on magnetos f w halter mann 10 discussed the principal types now in use there has been a great demand for this machine of late due to the increase in automo bile production of recent years the actual magnetos were used in the explanation and numerous types were at hand including the bosch the remy and the splitdorf prof esty finished by a short talk on empirical e inations empirical equations are equations determined by experiments and cannot be found by theoretical con siderations they are used largely in engineering calculations and can also be applied for determining future conditions for instance if the population of the united states increases steadily at the rate that it has since 1800 it will be equal the present population of the entire world in the year 2270 the meeting was adjourned to the library where refreshments were served base ball schedule lehigh the followinggames on the sched ule remain to be played this spring april 22 tufts at home april 29 open at home may 4 albright at home may 7 swarthmore at home may 11 open at home may 14 lafayette at home may 18 pennsylvania away may 21 franklin & marshall at home may 25 west point at west point may 28 lafayette at easton may 80 n y university at home . june 1 ursinus at home june 11 lafayette at home home team plays good game against strong opponents lehigh met defeat at the hands of perm state on lehigh field on wednesday by the score of 6-2 the result however does not sig nify the playing of either side for the brown and white team amid the shouts of encouragement from its backers which might have been better organized had the cheer leaders been on their job played an uphill game from the start against great odds for the first two innings wolfram seemed to have the visitors at his mercy and it was not until the third when well-placed hits com bined with costly errors gave state a lead of three runs the sixth was lehigh's inning when two men crossed the plate in safety again in the eighth when lehigh had a man on third and one out chances lor scoring seemed bright a squeeze play was tried but was unsuccessful and the inning ended with no runs for lehigh the sensational plays were the home run by haddow and the catching of rebert's line drive by llirschman the summary : penn state summary home run haddow 3 basc hit eberline ;
