e e morgan i secretary j s byerly with c a foust investigation of a single-phase commutator motor e j d.iiley jr with j l farrar regulation of alternating current transformers l dunning electrical methods of purifying water f w ilalterrnan with j e llouek study of high-tension ingnition apparatus for automo biles w c jackson with j s liowan study of a ivotary con verter c b lawson with j j sullivan study of aluminum with certain continued on third page mustard and cheese producton to be best in years the final touches are now being given to the show everything is in fine shape and prospects are bright for this being the best pro duction in years the music is of a merry whistley variety and the original numbers written by a trio of lehigh students are being pub lished in book form which will make a handsome souvenir the cast is almost letter perfect and by the time the strenuous rehearsals of next week capped by the hardest one in the period of preparation the dress rehearsal are over popoeaterpillar vii will be the best prepared of any play put on here for some time chinese students club one of the most enjoyable meet ings of the chinese students club of lehigh university was held at the home of mr and mrs h a foering of the bethlehem prepara tory school last saturday evening among the guests present were prof and mrs richards prof and mrs esty professors landis good win and lambert messrs emery and diefehderfer all from lehigh prof and mrs johnson and prof anderson from the preparatory school the first paper of the evening was by mr hu 11 on chinese literature lie gave a detailed acconn of <> eloi > ■ >(' chinese pnenis es--a . s and prose mr huang ml followed with a paper on the " future of the chinese language " in which he showed that the chinese are obliged to adopt certain technical terms for common uses because it is im possible to render exact equivalent transactions for certain words into chinese both papers were received with unusual interest at the close of the meeting mr and mrs it a foering entertained the members of the chinese club and other guests with delicious refreshments and it was nearly midnight before the party thought of home 4t prof stewart recently addressed the pupils of the southern high school of philadelphia the competent orchestra which has been engaged will insure their proper rendition this is the first year that the college has been given a vacation at this time and on this account the dances may continue until an hour much later than was neces sary last year a large crowd is expected due largely to the fact that a number of house-parties will be held during the recess the committee is very anxious to learn at the earliest possible date of all who intend to go that adequate arrangements may be assured the tickets are 3.00 and may be pur continued on third page the brown and white lehigh university no 47
