freshman teams band thursday evening at 7.30 in the physical laboratory arcadia — thursday evening in drown hall at 7.30 harlan b beach is to address the regular drown hall meeting on sunday evening mr beach is a man of world wide reputation and is today considered to be the au thority on missions in this country for twelve years he labored among the peoples of india and china and from his experiences has been able to write many valuable and inter esting books concerning the coun tries he has worked in best known of his works are " india and christian opportunity and dawn on the hills of tang at the conclusion of his work in the foreign field mr beach re turned to this country to take charge of the student missionary work while engaged in this work mr beach's reputation as a man and as a scholar continually grew until at the opening of last year he was called to accept the unique position of prof of missions in yale university the y m c a takes a great deal of pleasure in being able to present to the student body a man man so widely known as mr beach is and sincerely hopes that every one will make it a point to come out and give mr beach the large audience he has every right to expect founder's day exercises — in chapel at 11.00 a m october 8 address by eichard watson gilder ph d a m l h d l l d weestling club founder's day games foot ball base ball and track :- 1911 vs 1912 lehigh field at 2 p.m musical clubs football hard work for squad wednesday the largest squad this season was on the field wednesday after noon in addition to the sopho mores and freshmen out for their class teams of whom there must have been between thirty and forty — there were enough for four teams in the regular squad the first part of the afternoon was spent in running through signals coach dickson sam straus and brumbaugh each took a team in hand and gave individual atten tion to each man about four o'clock the varsity lined up against the scrubs for a hard scrimmage , the scrub line held well they repeatedly threw the varsity without a gain of the new men out donaldson knox and e aman seem to be showing up best donaldson especially seems to be making good knox had his nose broken and retired from the game after a few minutes of play after the first twenty minutes the third team was sent in against the scrubs and a scrimmage even livelier than the first ensued from this time on the men on each team were continually changed until practically every man out was giv en a chance the line-up for the first twenty minutes is as follows : archer l e treat l t e c smith martin l g wells knox c potter eorer shorkley -
