11.30 and elected the following officers : mr j n downey president mr e m hill first vice presi dent mr w s landis second vice president mr w f roberts secretary mr d m sachs jr treasurer mr p h smith class historian mr r w thoroughgood sup ply bureau director rousing reception given the foot-ball team on saturday evening thd old skating rink on new street near the philadelphia and reading tracks was on saturday night the scene of the most enthu siastic mass meeting that has been held by lehigh men for several years about five hundred men were present and filled the large room to over-flowing the meet ing was called to consider the foot ball situation and to show coach pollard and the members of the team that they held the undivided support of the college whether the team won or lost it was felt that the present policy of the foot-ball management was misunderstood by many of the undergraduates and that such a meeting would clear up many obscure points and present the situation to the men in its true light there were a number of alumni present and all of them spoke feel ingly on the subject giving some very good advice some of the men in college who are members of the various teams then spoke and the crowd marched over to the eagle hotel where professor stew ardson gave them a very good ad dress saying that failure at first is but the forerunner of final victory and should not prove discouraging the march was then resumed to the station where the team was given a rousing welcome and es corted back to the hall there dr pollard spoke freely of the present state of affairs say ing that it was too much to expect that a team with a new line and many new backs could prove suc cessful early in the season but promising that when the big games came the team would make such a showing as to have every man in college proud of them fuller and downey then told of the encourage ment that such a meeting had given them and also prophesied a bright future for the team bray spoke well about the important part the men on the bleachers play in the success or failure of a team and with some rousing cheers the meeting disbanded the foot-ball team went down to annapolis on saturday and suffered defeat at the hands of the naval cadets the playing of the team was however very much of an improvement over that of the pre vious games and in spite of the defeat much credit is due the team for the plucky up-hill game it played against the heavier oppo nents time after time annapolis was held for four downs and several times where the ball was danger ously near our goal parson's was put in at quarter-back for his first game and considering the very short time he has been out for practice his playing was of a remarkably high order fuller started the game with a 45 yard kick-off but annapolis ran the ball back 35 yards from here by a series of tackle and end runs they brought the ball up to le high's 20-yard line where they lost it on downs farabaugh made five yards for lehigh and fuller carried the ball five more around the end here annapolis held for three downs and fuller punted the ball went out of bounds on lehigh's 30-yard line annapolis got the ball and took it to lehigh's 20 yard line but lost it on downs bailey gained four yards and then fuller on a cross-tackle play got away from all but one of the cadets who missed his tackle but succeeded in tripping him so that he was downed before he could regain his feet here lehigh was held for downs and fuller punted annapolis ran the ball back to lehigh's 30-yard line from here by steady rushes they carried the ball to the 10-yard line but fumbled and hinckle caught the ball and carried it twenty yards rushes by bailey farabaugh and fuller took the ball back to the 40-yard line but it went to annapolis on downs it was then carried back gradually for a touchdown after 18 minutes of actual play goal was kicked the half ended soon after this score annapolis 6 lehigh o at the beginning of the second half annapolis kicked the ball over farabaugh's head and it rolled out of bounds behind the goal line making a touch back the ball was wyoming seminary 26 lehigh scrub o the lehigh scrub went to wilkes-barre saturday to play the wyoming seminary team of that city and was defeated by the above score quite a crowd witnessed the game among the number being a delegation of old lehigh men who gladdened the hearts of the visitors by an occasional ragged but en thusiastic lehigh yell the seminary team played strong foot-ball and smployed sev eral time honored trick plays to great advantage the visitors on the other hand while putting up a great exhibition of individual work failed utterly in team play their gaining as a result was largely a matter of chance harm and pentz circled the ends for good gains while geare found frequent holes in the wyoming line and took ad vantage of every chance the game was clean and gentle manly throughout and was thor oughly enjoyed by the
