. ■'■■:•■' -..■■'■■■■1 i on monday evening the eagle hotel was the scene of one of the most successful and picturesque dances that has been given in the bethlehems for some time the oc casion being the third annual dance 6iwem^j^po^(m charge of the theta delta chi fraternity : 3?h*f danciii ball and approaches were tastefully . decoyated with the college and fraternity colors ffy fiug.effeal^s^fiales and the lighting w^s^s^ph showed the fine costumes of tne dancers to perf bpori lncin€^®!^a\al i f^he o clock and at that time about sev enty-five " v med the floior the program of f dances had been chose.n : with care artctm^nueri&g of the several pi.eq.es by groman's orckestra was : - all that could be desired from a ; po sition at the entrance the . entire room seemed to be a whirling kaleidoscope of color accentuated here and there ; - by a ■■garjiqftlarly striking gown . the :, ; quiet . conven tional dress of the men heighten ing the general effect after twelve dances dainty re freshments and confections were served following which came four teen more numbers interspersed with numerous and repeated en cores finally to the suggestive tune of home sweet home the guests dispersed unanimously agreeing that they had passed a most pleasant evening in addition to the active members of the nu deuteron chapter there were pres ent the president and his wife a number of professors and instruc tors with their families many col lege men as well as numerous guests of the chapter and the repre sentative social element of the beth lehems and of allentown the ladies who acted as patron esses were : mrs thomas m drown mrs archibald johnston mrs horace luckenbach mrs j w h pollard mrs john l stew art mrs george myers mrs a b fichter mrs george w stull mrs langdon c stewardson mrs william estey mrs william myers mrs hunter eckert mrs joseph adams mrs joseph mc kee h d wilson 01 was in beth lehem over sunday a fairly good sized and intensely enthusiastic audience gathered in the grand , opera house pn tues day evening to hear the joint con cert by the combined musical clubs of the university o,f s pennsylvania and our own musical association and from the rise of the curtain on the.banaer-bedecked stage until the echoes pf the last selection died away felt that they were not jpnly gejfcfg their moneys t worth : of , mfeic but ere.'als6 being amply repaid for the trouble they had gone to in turning out to support the af fair g^\i ..;. ->■$ . jss i from the hoo rah ray's for pennsylvania which ra»g.-.out fre quently from dose students in the gallery and i4he answering cheers from the boys from philadelphia one might have been led to suppose that ' thl wo'tlniversities ' llfi ig ■stalling a foew^%ptef of the mu tual admiration society but it would not have taken a musical cofi-i tioisseur to see that : every bit of it was well deserved in justice to our selves we must refrain from over praising the visiting clubs and from knowledge of the laws of social etiquette we do likewise as regards our own men so the greatest praise and best deserved criticism that can be given is that everything in the concert was excellent the program was as follows part i — pennsylvania mandolin club i valse bleu margis \ the happy jap o'connor glee club red and blue goeckel banjo club zamone loraine banjo and mandolin clubs medley 4 11 44 arranged by paul eno glee club frogs wooing greely combined clubs medley part 11 lehigh mandolin and glee clubs alma mater mandolin club while old glory waves anton hcindl baritone solo p p reese selection glee club is it hot enough for you herbert mandolin club the tale of a bumble bee king dodo glee club jolly blacksmith's lay adam geibel after the performance the sa cred laws of hospitality were looked after at the brighton so that the participants of the show were also left in good spirits great credit is due to manager higgins for the marked smoothness and alacrity with which the perform ance was carried off as well as for the success financially qiven by lehigh club of western pennsyl vania i the annual dinner of the le high club of western pennsylvania was held in pittsburg on saturday february 8 ;
