the work of the track team like that of the rest of the teams was greatly interfered with by the sud den return of cold weather during the past week some out door work had been done but the team was compelled to take to the gymnasium once more and get what little prac tice they could on the in-door track by tuesday afternoon the paths on the campus had become suf ficiently cleared to permit of their use once more quite a number of men have come out for these runs but the number is not as large as it should be the work so far has been aimed largely toward the de velopment of the relay team but the training of the long distance men is to begin at once the first hare and hounds chase will be on saturday over a course of two and a half miles mr ma honey will be captain of the hares and capt lattig of the lacrosse team captain of the hounds capt frick will be whipper in these runs are open to every man in col lege and dr pollard wishes to see a large number of men out at 3.30 on saturday especially the men who are trying for the lacrosse and track teams after the basket ball game with gettysburg there will be a meeting of the team to elect a captain for next year's team any man playing one game on this year's team is en titled to a vote shop visits the easter recess begins at 12.30 p m march 26 and ends at 7.45 a m april 3d after the easter holidays the roster hours will run as follows : from 8 to 12 and 1 to 5 with chapel exercises at 7.45 a m the long run of bad weather with the deep snows of last week to cap the climax have kept the le high base ball men confined to in door work much longer than the captain and coach would like but the change to spring-like conditions of the last several days has helped matters wonderfully and the squad was enabled wednesday to limber up on the field for the first time eisenhart 03 was in charge of the practice neither captain lilley or coach carr being able to get out the diamond was still too soft from the late snow to bear playing on but a good field was found back of the grandstand and a very spirited practice took place there the men took turns in batting the pitchers warmed their wings a little and an easy fielding practice was in dulged in five members of last year's team were out and a promising array of new upper-class and freshmen ma terial was on hand it would be hard to name any men who did much better than the others as the showing was uniformly good con sidering the lack of practice but among the new men kinney whitehead who played here last year landerfelt and brush may be mentioned among those who were practic ing were eisenhart de schweinitz reese lewis chamberlain taylor l farabaugh sinn a w smith becker pentz baily burchstead simpson zearfass whitehead kin ney brush landerfelt waters snyder schuler and knapp the banquet of the junior class will be held saturday evening at 8.30 at the sun inn as many jun iors as possible should attend to secure the success of this class func tion tickets are only 1.50 and can be obtained from the committee under the head of faculty ac tion is posted in packer hall a statement that after the easter holi days college hours will be 8 to 12 and 1 to 5 with chapel at 7.45 a rehearsal of the glee club will be held sunday march 6 interesting itineracy arranged at five o'clock in the morning of wednesday march 26 there will leave over the pennsylvania and reading railroad for washington and points south quite a crowd of lehigh men comprising the base ball team and the members of the glee and mandolin clubs of the university the latter who are taking their first extended trip in a number of years will carry some sixteen or seventeen men for the mandolin club and a like number of singers although some of the members of each club will prob ably be found repeating in the other the musical clubs will follow very closely the itineracy of the base ball team the first concert will be given in washington the evening of wednesday march 26 the base ball team playing georgetown the same afternoon the next jump will be to charlottesville va where the base ball team will play the uni versity of virginia in the afternoon of the 27th and the musical clubs will perform in the evening on friday the 28th the musical clubs have a date in lynchburg while the ball team rests on the 29th saturday the athletes engage with the danville military acad emy ball tossers the joint clubs per forming in danville the same even ing on monday the 31st all hands will be in winston-salem n c for 13 concert and ball game with uni versity of n c the same thing be ing repeated next day april ist in chapel hill after that all aboard for bethlehem the musical clubs will meet the president in washington and are booked for receptions of one sort and another all along the line so that the social end of the trip is seen to be well-looked after a full list of the men going on this trip will be published later y m c a notes the rev a dow butterick drummer evangelist spoke very acceptably at the association meet ing last sunday evening on the coming sunday at the usual time the toronto delegates will give a report of the volunteer convention mrs leibert will sing at this meet ing engineering meeting postponed the joint meeting of the electri cal and mechanical engineering so cieties was again postponed this time from march 13 until after the easter vacation on acount of the continued illness of mr rosenberg the lecturer the regular meeting of the electrical engineering so ciety will be held thursday the 13th instead of the joint meeting prof franklin will talk on the nernst lamp showing examples of the lamp and mr regestein will speak of the methods of testing at the general electric company's plant at schenectady the junior mechanical and elec trical engineers in charge of dr estey and mr heck will leave fri day march 21 for new york city on a visit of inspection to last one week a number of the principal power houses and electric light plants will be visited among other plants they will visit the manhattan power station the metropolitan power station the western electric mfg co.'s fac tory the crocker wheeler electric co.'s factory waterfront central station of new york the edison comp the duane street station of the edison comp the sprague electric comp.'s factory all the juniors in the mechanical and elec trical departments are supposed to go on this trip further particulars will be published later the senior chemists under the direction of mr spanutius will spend the easter vacation in new york
