lehigh club of pittsburgh held its tenth annual dinner april 20th at the university club just before the dinner a meeting was called by president h a porter field for election of offiicers the present as visiting members were president t m drown of lehigh and f l gram mer 89 of cleveland menu oysters blue points consomme julienne celery olives radishes filet mignon bearnaise french pea pariseinne potatoes broiled squab on toast tomato mayonaise cheese and toasted crackers cho:olate ice cream coffe 1 addresses wanted the following addresses are wanted by the secretary of the alumni field and won handily by the above score the professionals were un able to hit sellers at any stage of the game while the college men connected with both riddlemoser and blackburn almost at will both teams fielded well the all-around work of evans of allentown bemg particularly good for lehigh parsons and taylor hit the ball hardest while reese at second handled cleanly everything that came his way mckelvey who takes eisenhart's position at short stop during the latters absence also put up an excellent game be ing weak only in the department of base running the features of the game were the home runs of taylor and per sons the latter finding his old familiar spot in right field while taylor chose deep left the score : lehigh allentown earned runs allentovvn 1 ; lehigh 6 home runs persons taylor three base hit mckelvey two-base hit nickels sacrifice hits nickels stolen bases riddlemoser blackburn and tay lor double plays lilley unassisted bases on balls off sellers 6 ; riddle moser 2 blackburn i struck out by sellers 7 blackburn i wild pitches allentown 3 lehigh 1 left on bases allentown 6 ; lehigh 11 first base on errors lehigh 3 attendance 300 um pire kelley pf lehigh time 1.46 lehigh scrub 6 perkiomen 26 the scrub played its first game on saturday afternoon at penns burg with perkiomen seminary and suffered the worst kind of a defeat . the lehigh men who had never practiced together before saturday were all equally poor the one redeeming feature being a lone home rum by jones in the ninth for perkiomen the pitching of continued on fouxtk p««e lehigh home club an enthusiastic meet ing held friday evening the lehigh home club held a meeting on friday evening april 26 in maenerchor hal bethlehem the meeting was well attended and important business was transacted the routine of the meeting was enlivened by several selections from a quartette composed of messrs reese miller sheesley and monie the most important matter brought before the meeting was the offer from a friend who desires for the present to remain unknown of the house at 35 south new street for the use of the club rent free the running expenses of the house will be all that will have to be paid this generous offer was gladly accepted and soon the club will be established in its new quarters a few other matters were considered and then doctor drown was introduced and spoke in part as follows : " i desire to congratulate the club on the excellent work it has already accomplished and on the bright prospects of its future efficiency and beneficial effects such an organization as this can accomplish untold good for the university iii c.very respect and yet i do not think that the chief purpose of an alumni association is to advance the interest of the university this of course is a leading purpose but it is primarily designed for good fellowship as the renewal of former associations and friendships i cannot commend the alumni too highly for the firm and loyal support given to the university during the recent years of financial trouble indeed it was largely through their untiring efforts that the university was able to pass through its trials successfully a home club can accomplish a great amount of good especially to the alumni hereafter when our alumni visit the university they will have a place where they can meet their old associates and be made to feel at home this is a great convenience to visiting alumni and strengthens their feeling for their alma mater wonderfully i am thoroughly convinced of the utility of athletics to our uni versity and we are making house the seventeenth annual perform ance of the mustard and cheese dramatic association was given saturday night at the grand opera house in south bethlehem the play " dandy dick a clever three act farce by arthur w pinero was in every way a marked suc cess and the entire cast and espec ially mr b luther anthony under whose personal direction the play was produced deserve the greatest credit both for their clever per formance and their hard and faith ful preparatory work the small but appreciative audience was greatly impressed with the decided lack of amateurishness end with the smooth finished appearance of the entire production everything went along smoothly the cast knew their lines well and had all the stage business down perfectly in short everything that can possibly be said in praise of a first class show may be said with cor rectness ofthe mustard and cheese rendition of " dandy dick who ever missed seeing the play has ample cause for regret for he missed a treat the like of which has not been given to lehigh for several years and which in all prob ability will not be given again for some time to come it is a hard matter to say who was the best or even to pick out the good and bad for everybody was at his best j b freund as the penpous ceremonious dean besides being very good all the time showed remarkable talent in dramatic situations c g gra ham as sir tristram mardon bart was an ideal sporting man dyer smith as the weak livered major tarver and s s shive as his fel low lancer mr darbey both gave excellent interpretations of the parts w raab as blore the but ler was especially clever besides his wonderful make-up and facial expression he showed a great deal of ability f g burrows was very good in the part of the over jealous aggressive constable noah top ping and j w underwood in the part of hatcham the groom was quite a star as for the girls well the very least that can be said is that they were really girls their make-ups elegant dress is and indeed their carriage at all times were entirely womanly j w scott deserves especial mention in this every thing his make-up general appear ance and voice was that of a wo man's and not
