make it one of the most success ful in her history and with a little steadying up of individual work the prospects of winning the inter-col legiate championship are bright on tuesday afternoon of last week she defeated hobart by a score 6f 11 to o and did it in so decisive a manner that at no time was her own goal in any great danger and most of the playing was done in the visitors territory in the game with pennsylvania yesterday there was a marked im provement in team work and had it not beeii for the slippery condi tion of the field which marred to a great extent both team and indi vidual work there would have been a much better opportunity to esti mate the true condition of the team pennsylvania's playing was charac terized by an almost total absence of team work and thus the individ lattig doing perhaps the best all around work on the attack while every man on the defense played a hard steady game morris played a good game at center and the work of digby and martin was of its usual excellent character abbott was a little weak on catching at times but otherwise he was all that could be desired and played all around his opponent the game began at 3.30 p m and the ball had our goal was left . undefended some very pretty work followed in which morris figured prominently and succeeded in scoring end of first half lehigh 5 ; penna 1 in the beginning of the second half the ball went right down the field in order and after the best team work of the game martin continued on fourth page dear sir editor the brown and wijttt i have studied with interest the communications in regard to the new scheme for athletic clues and must say i can see no good argu ment against it though in my opin ion the fee should be not less than ten dollars for i believe that sum would be just as readily paid and is not too much considering the fact that it covers admission to all games some parents and a few others who do not understand the situa tion may object to the idea of a fixed charge for this purpose on the grounds that athletics already have taken too prominent a place in college affairs but i don't think that we need hesitate on account of this the failure to collect dues by the old method was due i am sure in very few instances to the inability of students to meet this little extra expense but simply to thoughtlessness and a habit of evading everything of this kind not absolutely obligatory as for the claim that to adopt such a plan is to admit that there are no men at lehigh who can stir up the undergraduates to sup port athletics well if that is true i still believe it better to obtain the means of support by force as it were than to drop athletics entirely or to continue at the rear of the procession while never an athlete myself i am always deeply inter ested in lehigh's welfare in this direction and have often wondered at the preseverahce and pluck of managers captains and teams handicapped as they have been trusting that the plan will be adopted in
