lehigh was defeated by west point last saturday in a game which for all around work was the best of the season west point expected a repetition of last year's score and was much sur prised at being unable to score after the first twelve minutes play the game was an open one west point often punting on first down most of their gains through the line were made on a tackles back play similar to pennsylva nia's romeyn's kicking was of the highest order his punts often carrying for fifty yards west point's line was stronger than lehigh's but their backs were slow in starting and in form ing their interterence lehigh's interference was the best they have shown this year and the backs ran well with the exception of wilson who was slow all around both sides fumbled at critical moments and both appeared much stronger on offensive than on de fensive work lehigh was several times in a fair way to score but lost the ball on fumbles of lehigh's line men becerra was handicapped by a badly bruised knee but played a sandy game gledhill at left tackle,when given the ball made a number of good gains while butler at right tackle played an especially good game dornin's handling of punts was excellent not one fumble being made the game was started by dornin kicking off kromer was downed on the 15-yard line and on the first line-up romeyn punted 60 yards lehigh tried the line and ends but failed to gain and on the fourth down punted west point secured the ball on their 40-yard line and by quick hard rushes at the line forced the ball up the field waldron carry ing it over the goal line romeyn kicked an easy goal time 3 minutes 20 seconds dornin kicked off and on the first line up west point returned the ball to mid-field lehigh failed to gain on two downs and on the third the center men fumbled and lost the ball west point repeated her former tactics plunging through the line for short steady gains jackson carried the ball over for the second touchdown and romeyn kicked the goal time 9 minutes dornin kicked off again and the ball being returned to him ad vanced 10 yards before being downed just here lehigh appeared to strengthen considerably in offen sive work and on a double pass wilson gained 25 yards lehigh bucked the line for good steady gains by chamberlain and dornin — james making 10 yards on a double pass lehigh con tinued to carry the ball up the field but on west point's 8 yard line lost it on a fumble on the first down west point punted and dornin returned punts were exchanged again and west point fumbled gledhill falling on the ball on west point's 35-yard line wilson and chamberlain gained around the ends while gled hill went through the line tor good distances lehigh advanced the ball steadily and when time was called had it on west point's 20 yard line second half — romeyn kicked off for west point to butler who advanced to lehigh's 40 yard line but dropped the ball when tackled west point secured the ball and by a number of short end runs advanced it to lehigh's 20 yard line where romeyn tried for a goal but missed dornin kicked out and it was west point's ball in mid field a series of line plays and a couple of end plays advanced the ball to the 20-yard line where le high held for downs and forced west point to kick romeyn again tried for a goal but was unsuccess ful on dornin's punt-out west point got the ball on lehigh's 45-yard line they fumbled but kept the ball and by a series of hard line buck carried it to le high's 3-yard line from which by a mass on center they nrade their last touchdown dornin kicked off and the ball was downed on west point's 15 yard line at this point scovil was hurt and was replaced by ross west point carried the ball to their 40-yard line but lost it on a fumble chamberlain and gled hill made repeated gains through the right side of the line and around right end carrying the ball to vvest point's 20-yard line where it was lost on downs lehigh held west point for three downs and forced romeyn to punt dornin made two fumbles and lehigh was forced to kick west point lined up and on first down returned the punt on the next play mccarthy made a bad pass and west point got the ball after line-up today and every day this week aye want a go.od scrub out every day as prac tice during this week and next will be the most important of the season important games are now close at hand and it is necessary that we all pull together chamberlain there will be a very important meeting of all those connected with or interested in the minstrel show at the sigma phi house at 7.30 tuesday evening whether you expect to take part or not help the club along by being present manager l u c a the christian association meet ing for sunday oct 30 will be a song service the association has recently purchased new song books so that a number of new songs will be tried minstrel show in response to a call issued by several seniors for all those inter ested in the formation of a minstrel troupe to meet over thirty men assembled at the psi upsilon house last thursday night and decided if the support and active aid of the rest of the college could be secured to give a show saturday nov 5 the night of the lafayette game was the date selected and though but a few days over two weeks are available for rehearsals it is known that an an excellent show can be gotten up if everybody helps after some discussion it was de cided that there should be one general manager and that he should have an assistant and a director for each of the various parts ot the performance r farnham was elected manager and chose c m knight as his assistant in a short but pointed speech he out lined the plan to be pursued and presented its difficulties these he showed were ones which could be easily overcome not by the efforts ot the manager but by the work done by the college at large the necessity of every man in the chorus attending all the rehearsals was pointed out and each man was urged to do his part toward making the whole a success jackson 99 was elected musical director and white 1900 was chosen to take charge of the spec ialties it is hoped that a part of the college orchestra can be se cured to furnish the music and that every person who knows of any amusing act that might serve for a specialty will speak to white at once hanscom 1900 was elected to manage the third act of the per formance which will probably be a short sketch the most import ant place in the troupe to be tilled is that of interlocutor after some discussion of spec ialties which might be used and an announcement that the time for the first chorus rehearsal would be posted the meeting adjourned it was learned later that the opera house could not be secured for saturday nov 5 so some other date will probably be se lected a meeting of candidates for the position of end men and interloc utor was held on sunday at the sigma chi house very little was done except to discuss the men available for
