baseball high school 9 lehigh scrub 2 the scrub baseball team plajed the hill school at pottstown on saturday and were defeated by a score of 9 to 2 the game was very interesting aside from the last part of the bth inning when sellers weakened somewhat the team work of the scrub nine was very creditable and the work of both batteries was excellent stolen bases hill 2 lehigh scrub 4 struck out by bowman 12 by s hers 10 bases on balls off bowman 2 off sellers 9 hit by pitched ball — musselman umpire — mr siskins time l hour 45 minutes «. calculus cremation at the meeting of the com mittee last .» lacrosse varsity 5 moravian parochial school i a practice game in lacrosse was payed on saturday morning with a team from the moravian parochial school bethlehem the work ol the varsity throughout relay race in the annual field t urnament held at franklin field university of pennsylvania on saturday le high's track team was defeated in the relay race with columbia cornell and lafayette notwith standing the fact however that lehigh finished last in the race the sh wing made by our team was far from discreditable and the work of the men is deserving of hearty commendation rather than adverse criticism the race was won by columbia with cornell a close second while between lehigh and lafayette it was a close contest for third place until the ending of the third quarter in the first quarter it was nip and tuck between parsons of le high and salmon of lafayette until the home spurt when parsons by hard running outdistanced his rival by a few feet in the second quarter ross had lost what he had gained and in the last quarter grubbe although gaining slightly on his opponent ely was un-b!e to overcome the lead gained by ihe latter and finished in fourth place columbia's time was 3.29 the next best time to that of the one mile championship race which was 3.24 4-5 the time made by lehigh was 3.36 which is better than the running time in a number of the other races 3.29 and when we take into con sideration the fact that this was the next best time to that of the one mile championship race it is needless to remark that lehigh was in very fast company and although we lost the time made by our team 3.36 was much better than that of the winners in a num ber of the other races and we have reason to feel gratified rather than chagrined at the result in the one two and four mile championship races yale had a complete wa'k over defeating pennsylvania by a large margin the startling feature of the day was the broad jumping of kraenz lien of perm he broke the world's record by three inches and to accomplish this made five leaps the last one covering the astonish ing distance of 24 feet 3 12 inches lehigh preparatory school did good work winning second in one of the school
