gun club the first meeting this year of the university gun club was held in christmas hall oct 30 a good share of the members were present and after talking over the condition of the club it was decided to order a thousand blue rocks last year's traps are in good shape and a shoot will be held when the pigeons arrive palmer 99 was elected secretary and treasurer the election of the other officers will take place shortly freshman class meet ing a meeting of the freshman class was held in the physical lab oratory on saturday morning the meeting was called to order by president higgins in his opening remarks mr higgins strongly urged the freshmen to take more interest in their class and in the alma mater a member of tau beta pi addressed the meeting and explained how an election to this society was gained the class decided on the regular dues and also that 1901 would support a regular football team there being no further business the meeting adjourned c e society meeting a meeting of the c e section of the engineering society was held in the physical laboratory thurs day evening at 7 p.m a paper was read by paddock 98 on " methods of shop practice in bridge works seven new men were elected to membership a discussion was held concerning the election of sophomores as associate members this question has been discussed for several successive years and will be acted upon in a future meeting the next paper will be read by instructor wilcox on the " methods of working the portland conn quarries this is sure to be very interesting and it is desired that there be a large attendance one yard through centre and wied enmeyer five around the end wal bridge made two yards through the line and then tried the end for a loss the ball was then given to lehigh for holding gunsolus lost a yard ; holder failed to gain and then kicked to lafayette's 05-yard line but the ball was called back and given to lafayette for holding duffy failed to gain and bray kicked holder ness then kicked and lafayette failing to gain on next down duffy kicked to dornin on le high's 10-yard line holderness dropped back for a kick but fumbled and herr dropped on the ball for a touch-down duffy missed goal score 10-0 holderness kicked to lafayette's 25-yard line ; duffy and bray each made five yards and duffy then kicked to holderness gunsolns made five yards but on the next play the ball was fumbled ; eine hart getting it made a touch-down duffy missed an easy goal score 14-0 holderness kicked to lafayette's 25-yard line ; walbridge then skirted the end for twenty yards followed by boyd making fifteen yards around the other end when lehigh got the ball for holding failing to gain for three downs dornin kicked but the kick was blocked lafayette getting the ball duffy made three yards after which on a double pass boyd made fifteen yards and a touch down einehart kicked goal score 20-0 walbridge returned holderness kick-off to the 40-yard line bray kicked to dornin who caught the ball but dropped it on being tackled and walbridge secured the ball and made a touch-down einehart missed an easy goal score 24-0 by a double pass lafayette ran the kick-off back into lehigh's territory and then kicked le high returned the kick wal bridge and boyd made twenty and fifteen yards respectively and then four and six yards with the ball on lehigh's 4-yard line and but twelve seconds to play weiden meyer carried the ball over duffy missed an easy goal and the first half ended with the score 28-0 in favor of lafayette on the kick-off in the second half walbridge caught the ball on lafayette's 15-yard line and ran ten yards before he was downed on the next down duffy kicked ; holderness caught and returned the kick to bray who ran three yards before he was thrown by butler bray walbridge and wiedenmeyer successively made three two and five yards for la fayette when the ball was given to lehigh for interference james gained three yards and gunsolus failing to gain on the next down holderness kicked to duffy wal bridge was thrown back for a loss of three yards and bray kicked to football lafayette 34 ; lehigh o the student body en masse with a large number of town people ac companied the football team to easton saturday to see the game with lafayette college spirit was abundant and the crowd was in the best of spirits singing songs and giving cheers continually the day was a fine one for a foot ball game being neither too warm for the players nor too cold for the spectators the game was not as one-sided as the score would seem to indicate lehigh played a strong defensive game but was weak in the offen sive ; the chief fault being fumb ling three of lafayette's touch downs were flukes from fumbles by our backs and opportunities for pushing the ball over the line were given by fumbling in the middle of the field that the men are in good condition was shown by the fact that so few of them were hurt despite their disadvan tage in weight the game in detail was as fol lows captain gunsolus won the toss and took the north goal with the wind slightly in his favor einehart kicked off to dornin who returned the kick to lafayette's 45-yard line walbridge went through right tackle for two yards bray made four more through the centre walbridge went through left guard for three yards and boyd made ten through right guard duffy made four yards through the right side of the line eutter fumbled and lehigh got the ball on her 35-yard line gun solus made two yards through the left tackle dornin tried left end but was thrown for a loss and hol derness was forced to kick bray catching the punt eutter fumbled but lafayette fell on the ball wal bridge was thrown for a loss and duffy dropped back for a kick which holderness fumbled but managed to drop on the ball dornin again tried left end but failed to gain holderness kicked to bray whom chamberlain downed by a pretty tackle walbridge made forty yards around left end boyd one yard through right tackle walbridge six yards through cen tre and fifteen yards around the end on a double pass for a touch down duffy kicked goal score 6-0 holderness kicked off to eine hart who passed to duffy run ning the ball out to the 25-yard line boyd made two yards wal bridge fifteen yards boyd two more and bray three more bray made ten yards after which he kicked holderness kicked wal bridge made five yards through the line ;
