the time for the annual perform ance of the mustard and cheese dramatic club is now near at hand and is taking up a great deal of the attention of the college men the sale of seats is now open and the advance sale up to the present writing has been large the prices of the seats are the same as in past years and special atten tion as usual has been given to those who desire seats in the bal cony the advance sale is being carried on at the regular places jacoby's drugstore south bethle hem and nickum's drugstore bethlehem and all students who have not yet procured seats should do so at once the club has been rehearsing very faithfully this last week and a great deal has been accomplished mr daly the coach arrived today and will be with the club until tuesday he is one of the best theatrical coachers in the business and the undergraduates can rest assured that under his direction everything will go evenly the play as it is advertised on the bills is an " eccentricity it is by the well known author w s gilbert and is bright and clever from be ginning to end the play is com posed of three acts and five scenes lasting in all about two hours and a half the plot of the play is based on the adventures of a young bride groom who was thrown from his horse while he was out riding on the morning of his wedding day on getting up he discovers his horse in the act of eating a young lady's hat the whole fun of the play now lies in this unfortunate young man running all over lon don with the wedding party at his heels trying to find another hat for the young lady he is taken for everybody else but himself and any number of amusing complications arise before he gets another hat the characters of the wedding party are also very well drawn and there is not a stupid moment in the whole play it ends happily of course the hat is obtained and the unfortunate bridegroom is safe ly wedded to the girl of his choice the time of the play has been put about 80 years ago so as to give a good opportunity for hand some costumes the costumes have been especially chosen for the occasion and are new and very effective especial attention has been paid to the orchestra and it will be one of the most enjoyable parts of the evening's entertain ment marshall 97 will dance a new serpentine dance .#. the senior mechanicals are to be congratulated on their exceed ingly original theses subjects as appeared in the last issue of the bkown and white the earliest printed college cata logue of yale graduates was a list appended to the commencement theses in 1714 pennsylvania and cornell have agreed to hold dual track games for two years dr gemss of berlin has com puted that 424 colleges with classi cal courses in germany have grad uated 19,600 men in the last three scholastic years half of the senior civil section will go to pottsville on saturday from the present sale of seats for the wedding march the performance promises to be well attended junior german the junior dance to be given at the eagle hotel tomorrow night should be a great success for the orchestra the committee has secured gardner & carey of philadelphia whose delightful music was so much enjoyed at the last sophomore cotillion and every other requirement will be carefully attended to in fact all that is necessary to make this dance a great event is a large attendance 97 men should every one take ad represen tatives of the two colleges on march 26 at easton pa the two committees were as follows : lafayette — judge eeeder mr j ii maxwell and professor f a march jr lehigh — dr w h chandler mr g b linderman and mr j w thurston the following is the agreement as first drawn up it is subject to change at present but is about what the final rulings of the committee will be agreement between the athletic association of lehigh university and lafayette college through their authorized representatives march 26 1896 : eule i members of teams must be bona fide students in actual attendance upon recitations kule ii they shall receive no financial aid from the treasury of their association eule iii they shall not con test hereafter elsewhere for a finan cial consideration eule iy they shall not play for more than five years eule v lists of the students eligible according to agreements 1 2 and 4 shall be interchanged between the treasurers of the above mentioned associations said lists to be endorsed by the clerk of the faculty at lafayette and the chair man of the committee on qualifi cations at lehigh for their respec tive institutions at least two weeks before the first contest in any branch of athletics in any season and changes in such lists to be reported at once eule vi protests are to be sent to the chairman of the com mittee on qualifications at lehigh and the treasurer of the advisory committee at lafayette at least one week before the first contest in which the protested student is to take part and no student so protested is eligible to play with out a further certificate from these committees wedding in the chapel the memorial chapel last even ing was the scene of a very pretty wedding between miss elizabeth darling drown a niece of dr drown and mr z bennett phelps of wilkes-barre bishop iiulison and dr worcester officiated at the ceremony it was ihe first wedding that has ever taken place in the chapel and was a most beautiful and impressive sight the church began to fill up early and at half past seven the time set for the wedding there was not a vacant seat in the nave of the church a large number of people from out of town were present and all the prominent so ciety people of the bethlehems at tended the students also turned out in large numbers promptly at half past seven the bridal procession began the full vested choir proceeded first sing ing lohengrin's wedding march immediately behind was the bride on the arm of dr drown who gave her away then came miss alice phelps the little niece of the bride and the two pages masters william d phelps and phelps platt the bridesmaids then came seven in number as follows : miss elizabeth d drown maid of honor miss may newbold miss mildred holden miss stella farnham miss martha bennett miss eliza beth smith miss may darling and miss julia pullman the ushers brought up the rear as follows : messrs a k clark l b jones f b harrison b l cable a b shipley william sloan and w f carter they were all classmates of the groom at yale class of 95 the betrothal service was held in the body of the church and the marriage ceremony and benediction were held in the chancel proper on the recessional mendelssohn's wedding march was played after the cerejnony a reception was held at the residence of the president to the family and friends of the newly wedded couple among the yale men who attended the wedding were messrs butterworth beard and ilinkey of football fame dr worcester's lec ture mohammed and mohammedan ism on tuesday march 31 dr worcester finished his lenten course of lectures much to the re gret of all those who had the op portunity of listening to them the subject for his final lecture " the life and work of mohammed and and account of his religion was set forth in a most interesting man ner and was fully up to the high standard set by his previous lec tures owing to the fact that the first lecture of the course was di vided into two there is still one lecture left which was first included in the regular course the subject is : " german and norse religions and mythology this is a most interesting subject and both the undergraduates and the literature loving people of the bethlehems would deem it a great favor if dr worcester could find some con venient opportunity in the next two or three weeks to deliver the lecture baseball on saturday the undergraduates will have their first opportunity of seeing wnat their baseball team is able to do next saturday afternoon at half past 1 three the game will be with the strong allen baseball club of allentown and will cer tainly be most interesting as it is the first game of the season a large crowd should attend and give the team the support which they de serve the admission will be 25 cents and 10 cents extra for the grand stand special cars will be run from the corner of fourth and new streets mustard and cheese the wedding march
