two-base hits gannon lander lukens bowie whit moyer three-base hits fultz double plays donovan to bustard ; struck out by nevins 6 base on balls by nevihs 4 passed balls g-oss 2 time of game 2 hours umpire mr burns there will be a college meeting tuesday morning at 8.30 o'clock in christmas hall for the purpose of electing an athletic representa tive-at-large from the college j l poultney by all except a favored few the table of contents is more elaborate than usual and occupies a place in the front of the book which is a commendable change then come the classes and their " histories followed by the fraternity roll which adds a new cut to its already long list the statistics are more elaborate than ever a feature of interest being the scores of all athletic games from their incep tion at lehigh down to the present day in literary and artistic merit the 96 epitome may confidently court comparison with any of its predecessors there has never been an epitome in which the drawings were so numerous and meritorious noteworthy among the cuts are the little sketch on page 175 the agora and mathe matical club headings the picture at the finis and the beardsleyesque drawings scattered through the book one of the best and most suggestive things is the cartoon on page 209 it is to be hoped that the press club will come back in the autumn endowed with new life and turn the handle of that lever in the right direction there is a wealth of literary matter — greater in quantity and better in quality than in most preceding epitomes the last voyage of columbus n on page 212 with its amusing illustrations gives us laughable adventure in a clever caricature of longfellow's style among the many short poetical effusions the eecord of the bough is original and well expressed the prose of the book is breezy and interesting — notably the banjo club rehearsal and a junior's memories all in all the epitome reflects great credit on the men who have made it and the university should show its appreciation of their efforts an appreciative sketch of dr coppe'e is contributed by bishop nelson and one by the editors of dr drown whose portrait adorns the initial page of the volume asst treas all of the collectors for athletic dues will please hand their books to j w thurston before tuesday evening at 6 o'clock the 96 epitome will be on sale from today until commencement is over at packer hall or the supply bureau secretary there will be a meeting of trie chess club in christmas hall at 12.30 on tuesday to nominate officers for next year the seniors are requested to pay up their subscriptions for the senior banquet to be held at the sun inn thursday june 13 as soon as pos sible to anyone of the committee price 5 the committee the committe in charge of the room in christmas hall have for some time discussed the subject of decorations they have decided that pictures of the musical organi zations and pictures of the board of editors of the college publica tions would make appropriate de corations hence this collection which may be added to from year to year will be started immediately a few pennants for the same purpose have been placed in the hands of the committee this has suggested the idea that some of the seniors may have lehigh flags which they which they would like to add to this collection any such decorations may be left in the care of hall 96 the committee f 96 epitome at last the epitome has made its appearance — a book of some two hundred and eighty pages in a tasteful covering of brown and silver it is the epitome not only of the past year of college life but of the earnest efforts and bright minds of men whose only incen tive to toil has been love of their class and college as stated in the preface it has been the policy of the editors not to branch out widely in any new directions but rather to enlarge and improve upon the lines that have already served so well one change cannot be too highly praised — the elimination of cruel personalities the book is well printed on good paper and gives evidence of careful proof revision the dedication is witty and origi nal and will be appreciated fully baseball lehigh 3 ;
