high alumni association magin nes and reed are trustees of the university dr lewis said that the men continued on page 10 dr lewis also told the brown and white that there is a possi bility that evaluating committees would be set up to study other areas of university life including academic departments he said that qualified alumni and others would be selected to serve on these committees the president said that there is a good chance that cooley avould stay at lehigh after the expiration of his extended con tract in june if a position could be found that suited both him and the university he added that he felt that cooley was an excellent arcadia election returns posted by andy garr head football coach michael t cooley has been relieved of his coaching duties it was announced tuesday the decision to relieve cooley of his duties as head football coach was made by university president w deming lewis the decision was reached late monday afternoon according to the president and after he had considered the report of a five man evaluating committee com posed exclusively of alumni the committee was formed dur ing midseason and charged with the responsibility of evaluating the football situation in terms of scheduling coaching staff and re cruitment of personnel and to make recommendations in the light of their study said the pres ident dr lewis said that he had formed the committee on his own initiative he added that several people had requested a study of the situation but that he would have formed the committee with out these requests of votes required to guarantee election this quota is determin ed by dividing the total votes cast by one more than the num ber of candidates and adding one to the quotient any candidate who exceeds the quota on the first ballot is de clared elected stewart early was the only candidate in the election to win on the first ballot any votes of winning candidates over the quota are then split among the remaining candidates according to the second prefer ence on the ballot this is called transfer following the transfer any can didate exceeding the quota is elected and the lowest candidate is removed from the race the loser's votes are then split in the same manner as above the transfer process is continued until all seats are filled in the election 13 transfer were required before a second man adelaar was declared elected wilcox was elected on the 16th transfer becker on the 19th man dell and york on the 21st and gladstone zall and roper on the 22nd juniors stewart early charles c zall and steven l mandell and sophomore harvey l york retained their elected arcadia posts following the elections held monday through wednesday newly elected members are rob ert s adelaar 66 stephen m wil cox 67 james e becker 66 richard w gladstone 11 67 and d'arcy w roper 111 67 the nine elected members and seven appointed members will be come voting members of arcadia xix when the student government convenes on the first
