sayre park on december 6 in view of the past parking problem in the freshman quadrangle during the rushing period a meeting of dr chales a seidle vice president of administration william l quay dean of fraternity life r geoffrey stiles 65 president of the gryphons and d albert loranger jr 65 secretary of ifc is scheduled to iron out the difficulties the rushing committee announced the passage of a measure to lift the restrictions on pledges during the spring semester under this provision initiations would be conducted during the spring ligthening the load of the first semester sophomore this measure must be passed by the student life committee before it becomes effective the possibility of a debate between two national political figures to be held during ifc weekend was discussed and march 20 was approved as the date for ifc weekend the tickets for the saturday afternoon concert and saturday eve ning play will be 2.50 per person one ticket will be good for both functions there will be four groups and two bands performing at the concert the scholarship committee presented a proposal to have houses placed on probation at 2.0 instead of the present 1.8 haskins and sells philadelphia an innovation this year was presentation of simultaneous roundtable discussions topics were estates and trusts cor porate taxes and individual taxes dr l reed tripp dean of the college of the de partment of accounting and the lehigh valley chapter of the penn sylvania institute of certified public accountants was under the direction of dr alfred koch pro fessor of accounting the program included discus sions question periods and pre sentations of papers concerned with tax problems about 40 senior business majors attended other participants came from pennsylvania new jersey and new york papers presented were — stock options and related teachers to attend metallurgy forum seventy teachers from 45 high schools in pennsylvania new jersey and maryland will gather at lehigh friday for a daylong symposium on metallurgy dr r w kraft associate professor of metallurgical engineerlnp said that the purpose of the program is to give high school science teachers a basic knowledge of the nature of metallurgy too few freshmen know anything about metallurgy perhaps if the high school teachers know something about metallurgy they'll pass the information on to their students kraft added the morning program will consist of lectures by kraft on metal lurgical engineering dr george conard professor of metallurgical engineering on material science and dr joseph libsch head of the department of metallurgical engineering on the work of metallurg ists the combined efforts of the university concert band and glee club pleased a crowd estimated at more than 2500 people saturday night in grace hall encores were demanded of both groups the audience sang with the glee club accompanied by the band in the alma mater story on page two hostesses the guests watched the lehigh football team score its first victory of the year by defeat ing davidson 13-10 classes campus buildings sau con valley facilities and two art shows at the alumni memorial building galleries were open to visitors the band and glee club present ed their combined autumn concert in grace hall saturday evening parents and guests were invited to attend sunday morning services in packard
