such as ability and maturity rather than merely fraternity standards of group sociability and personality that when considering new up perclass applicants for the counsel ing staff no pressure or obligations be enforced to divorce the quali fied student from social functions with his present living group that careful consideration be given by the administration to the inclusion of the gryphon here on june 1 and 2 to re-live and re-hash the good old days the occasion is the annual al umni weekend on which every fifth graduating class since 1912 and the 50-plus classes those grad uated in 1911 or earlier hold their reunions registration is on friday june 1 there will be tours of campus buildings and the new saucon val ley tract grads will gather from 2-5:30 p.m for informal class gath erings at 6:45 p.m the alumni have scheduled alumni night the evening will begin with a full course buffet the golden anni versary class 1912 will extend the traditional welcome to this year's graduating class and the 1962 alumni awards will be pre sented the entertainment will include a program of slides featur ing sights from yesteryear with conduct and observance of all uni versity regulations the termina tion of social probation be ad vanced to october 1 1963 the committee recommended social probation beginning may 7 1962 and continuing through october 18 1962 with certain ex ceptions for another house found guilty of allowing a party to take place in their fraternity house for frat hp violation 2 year pro recommended the houseparty judiciary com mittee this week recommended that one fraternity be placed on social probation effective immedi ately and continuing through june 2 1964 the committee found the house guilty of many violations of houseparty regulationes and state regulations concerning serving of alcoholic beverages to minors during the spring houseparty the recommendations which are submitted to the office of the dean of students stipulated that the house's charter be revoked for in currance of any serious violation of university regulations the committee further stipulated that if the house shows responsible review included included in this issue of the brown and white is the initial publication of the lehigh re view a student and faculty written supplement to the student newspaper containing essays short stories and poems on subjects from the humanities social sciences engin eering technology and manage ment the aim of the booklet is to encourage and publish undergrad uate writing three issues are being planned for next year general percy l sadler retiring director of intercollegiate athletics and physical education and thom as e jackson associate professor of mechanical engineering who completes 25 years of service will be honored at the 15th annual fac ulty dinner tuesday at 6 : 30 in the asa packer room of the univer sity center the recipients of the robinson hillman and lindback foundation awards
