hear dr williams at drown hall on tuesday night there was a combination meeting of the y m c a cabinet and the advis ory committee the meeting was held mainly for the pur pose of the newly elected cabi net officers to meet and get ac quainted with the advisory committee a number of things were discussed among which was the important subject of next year's new secretary this topic was gone into quite at length but nothing definite was decided another important topic discussed was that of the conference at silver bay to be held from june 12 to 22 any student interested in the con ference will be able to get de tails from d p hoagland 24 at the y m c a office in drown hall any afternoon student i secretary of the state of penn sylvania l m miller was in town and was present at the meeting 4 racquet wielders perform in two matches will meet west side tennis club and army on two-day trip the tennis team did not get into action wednesday as they had anticipated the inactivity was a result of the condition of the courts which was caused by the recent rains although the scheduled match was not held practice was obtained on one of the courts the team makes a trip to new york this week-end and two matches are scheduled to be played the west side tennis club will be played today at new york the other match will take place on saturday with the army team at west point fordham appeared on the tenta tive schedule for today but it was replaced by the west side team the team's composition i has not yet been definitely de i cided upon mercur koegler • and lawall are to make the trip and his desired local color when panchita saves the situa tion by inviting him and forest to her villa in spain the fea tures of this act are an apache dance by piersol and morris a dance by panchita rich comedy by the harkins and sir regin ald and good characterization by grousot lulou and sardrini in act 2 the party arrives at pahchita's villa here denton begins to find his local color at once in the in drown hall on wednesday even ing when eleven juniors were elected to membership in the fraternity election to this fra ternity comes as a reward for meritous service extending over i a period of two years on one ! publication or one year on each i of the two or more publications the men elected will be formally pledged at the chapel exercises on tuesday morning at this meeting c t cor nelius 24 the delegate of the i lehigh chapter to the national i conclave of pi delta epsilon at i boston massachusetts on april 2th and 13th at this conven jtion among other new colleges i lafayette was granted a charter i the lafayette chapter will be installed by the members from | lehigh the latter part of may 1925 wrestling captain voted most popular lehigh athlete football men favorites the contest conducted by the veterans of foreign wars to de termine which lehigh athlete was the most popular with the local townspeople was won by ted burke printed ballots ap peared for a week in the behind the bat started on the mound for lehigh and was op posed by books of dickinson rogers lehigh's first man up to bat knocked the third ball pitched for a home run out through right field and over the fence both teams throughout the game played a snappy brand of ball and both sides were about equal in hits rogers pryor and hess each made two hits for lehigh and for dickinson pipa and reiter each made one and satterlee made three the er rors were small in number mc inray and hearn making one apiece for dickinson and mill one for lehigh dußois had 11 strikeouts to his credit and walked dußois 11 hooks 9 base on balls — dußois 1 books 2 umpire — amey time — 1 hr 45 mins dr a g inman lectures in chapel this morning henry reese price m d of brooklyn n v a member of the first class ever graduated from lehigh university and the oldest alumnus died at johns hopkins hospital baltimore md on last thursday afternoon after an operation performed there two weeks ago dr price entered lehigh in the first class that of 1866 and was graduated in 1870 he took up medicinal work near potts ville for a short time after grad uating but decided to continue his studies and entered the university of perm \ ■vania to again take up t'\e study of medi cine he graduated from that in stitution in 1880 he received the honorary degree of l l d from his alma mater in 1916 in 1885 he became an honorary trustee of lehigh university and a full trustee in 1910 since 1912 he has been president of the board dr price was intensely in terested in every thing pertain ing to lehigh and could always be looked upon for aid in any thing related to the welfare of the institution he was often here in his official capacity and was always delighted to return to his alma mater he was last here for the lehigh lafayette game dr price was held in high esteem by the college authorities and his death came as a blow to his many friends and associates he was preceded in death by his wife josephine stewart price and is survived by one yon henry stewart price of brooklyn also an alumnus of lehigh perhaps the best idea of just what kind of a lehigh man dr price was may be obtained from the following poem which speak be ifore the arts and science club on friday evening april 25 the meeting will be held in cop pic hall at 7 p m dr rau will | speak on the subject democ racy and mass action those who heard dr rau give the washington day address know his qualifications as a speaker and a thinker on present social and political problems assured ly this talk will be of vital in terest to every college man the meeting is open to all on friday morning at 11 a m in the packer memorial chapel dr s g inman will lecture on recent development in latin america there is probably no one as familiar with the latin ameri can conditions as dr inman for he has spent a great deal of his life in those countries has studied their needs and has written several books on pan americanism and on topics per taining to latin america all the students and the pub lic are urged to attend for they will be well repaid after hearing dr enman's lecture while the student body was j enjoying a four day vacation last i week the brown and white i baseball team took a journey in j a southern direction and con ! quered two out of three of op ponents the first opponent was the university of pennsylvania who conquered the lehigh nine by a 6 to 2 score the next af ternoon the brown and white tossers were on the long end of a 5 to 3 score against the uni versity of maryland in a game played under poor weather con ditions at college park balti more it was originally planned to cross bats with the univer sity of virginia diamond artists on friday but old jupiter plu vius intervened and the next afternoon the south bethlehem team was in lexington kentuc ; ky where washington and lee j was downed to the tune of 2 to 1 incidentally two of these j games were won by circuit \ drives one ending in favor of ; the lehigh team and the other > in favor of the pennsylvania i quakers the game against the ' generals had all f lic earmarks dt an extra inning encounum until the ninth frame adams ' the first man up in this inning hit a fast one to right for t\v bases and had scarcely regained his breath when hoss poled a terrific blow to right center which enabled both men to tally the winning run in be perm game was a tremendous drive over hess head by allen the red and blue second saeker which rolled clear to the edge of the track at the other end uf the field at the time the sacks were jammed and all four n.en scored with ease with the exception of the sec ond and seventh frames dußois pitched high class ball in the opening game of this trip in the second inning schuff singled holloway got a base on balls and mcgraw got a safe bunt allen then delivered his heroic clout allen was spiked in the fourth inning when nevins tried to stretch a single into a double and failed after a slide nevins cleats struck allen's arm and he was forced to retire lehigh scored their first counter in the 7th adams went out on an in field play ; ambler was safe when farrell mussed his hot grounder hess then smashed one of wil liams fast balls between left and center for a double ambler scoring in the ninth adams was safe on sensening's error amb ler popped a long fly to mcgraw but hess got first base when farrell made a poor throw in an effort for a double killing hay es hit a hot grounder to farrell and his throw was perfect but adams crossed the plate perm scored two more in the seventh when mcgraw's triple scored both schuff and holloway the score on wednesday afternoon i coach morris kanaly held the try-outs for the one mile relay team which is to represent the brown and white at the perm relay carnival today the re sults of the trials which were i run in the face of a very strong wind indicate that lehigh will be represented by a foitnidablei team the following men showed their ability in the trials and will make the trip to perm : j croll a springsteen h sieg mund c barba and j cox 1 also captain carol will run in the 220 and 100 yard events carol is conceded a good chance to win in either of these events by his performances so far this year m roth and j sanford will compete in the discus and hop-ski p-and jump events re spectively the relay carnival which is held every year at franklin field by the university of penn sylvania is now entering on the thirtieth year since its founding being started in 1894 the car nival promises to surpass all previous ones having drawn a record entry of 500 schools and colleges as in the past eleven years the carnival will have teams from cambridge eng land and canada making it an international affair the carnival is a two-day af fair with the world title events taking place on saturday this year the two-mile relay cham pionship promises to be the out standing event on the program with perm state cambridge and perm making the strongest bid for first place honors perm state now holds the record in this event and from present indica tions has an excellent chance of repeating last year's victory pennsylvania has captured a majority of the relay laurels it has offered for competition a recapitulation showing that the red and blue runners have won 30 championships in the five out standing features one two four-mile sprint theatre 8.16 j m ; with freddy rogers hitting hard and pete dußois pitching airtight ball the brown and white base ball team came through with a 3 to 0 victory over dickinson wednesday af ternoon in the second home game pete dußois with pryor behind the bat started on the mound for lehigh and was op posed by books of dickinson rogers lehigh's first man up to bat knocked the third ball pitched for a home run out through right field and over the fence both teams throughout the game played a snappy brand of ball and both sides were about equal in hits rogers pryor and hess each made two hits for lehigh and for dickinson pipa and reiter each made one and satterlee made three the er rors were small in number mc inray and hearn making one apiece for dickinson and mill one for lehigh dußois had 11 strikeouts to his credit and walked only one man books walked two men and struck out 9 the line-up was as follows home runs — rogers three base hits — rogers two base hits — hess satterlee stolen brooklyn n v a member of the first class ever graduated from lehigh university and the oldest alumnus died at johns hopkins hospital baltimore md on last thursday afternoon after an operation performed there two weeks ago dr price entered lehigh in the first class that of 1866 and was graduated in 1870 he took up medicinal work near potts ville for a short time after grad uating but decided to continue his studies and entered the university of perm \ ■vania to again take up t'\e study of medi cine he graduated from that in stitution in 1880 he received the honorary degree of l l d from his alma mater in 1916 in 1885 he became an honorary trustee of lehigh university and a full trustee in 1910 since 1912 he has been president of the board dr price was intensely in terested in every thing pertain ing to lehigh and could always be looked upon for aid in any thing related to the welfare of the institution he was often here in his official capacity and was always delighted to return to his alma mater he was last here for the lehigh lafayette game dr price was held in high esteem by the college authorities and his death came as a blow to his many friends and associates he was preceded in death by his wife josephine stewart price and is survived by one yon henry stewart price of brooklyn also an alumnus of lehigh perhaps the best idea of just what kind of a lehigh man dr price was may be obtained from the following poem which okey read as an introduction to dr price's address at the fiftieth lehigh re-union . in serried ranks from lehjgh's wn with rattling cheers and science club meet dr albert g rau dear of moravian college will speak be ifore the arts and science club on friday evening april 25 the meeting will be held in cop pic hall at 7 p m dr rau will | speak on the subject democ racy and mass action those who heard dr rau give the washington day address know his qualifications as a speaker and a thinker on present social and political problems assured ly this talk will be of vital in terest to every college man the meeting is open to all on friday morning at 11 a m in the packer memorial chapel dr s g inman will lecture on recent development in latin america there is probably no one as familiar with the latin ameri can conditions as dr inman for he has spent a great deal of his life in those countries has studied their needs and has written several books on pan americanism and on topics per taining to latin america all the students and the pub lic are urged to attend for they will be well repaid after hearing dr enman's lecture while the student body was j enjoying a four day vacation last i week the brown and white i baseball team took a journey in j a southern direction and con ! quered two out of three of op ponents the first opponent was the university of pennsylvania who conquered the lehigh nine by a 6 to 2 score the next af ternoon the brown and white tossers were on the long end of a 5 to 3 score against the uni versity of maryland in a game played under poor weather con ditions at college park balti more it was originally planned to cross bats with the univer sity of virginia diamond artists on friday but old jupiter plu vius intervened and the next afternoon the south bethlehem team was in lexington kentuc ; ky where washington and lee j was downed to the tune of 2 to 1 incidentally two of these j games were won by circuit \ drives one ending in favor of ; the lehigh team and the other > in favor of the pennsylvania i quakers the game against the ' generals had all f lic earmarks dt an extra inning encounum until the ninth frame adams ' the first man up in this inning hit a fast one to right for t\v bases and had scarcely regained his breath when hoss poled a terrific blow to right center which enabled both men to tally the winning run in be perm game was a tremendous drive over hess head by allen the red and blue second saeker which rolled clear to the edge of the track at the other end uf the field at the time the sacks were jammed and all four n.en scored with ease with the exception of the sec ond and seventh frames dußois pitched high class ball in the opening game of this trip in the second inning schuff singled holloway got a base on balls and mcgraw got a safe bunt allen then delivered his heroic clout allen was spiked in the fourth inning when nevins tried to stretch a single into a double and failed after a slide nevins cleats struck allen's arm and he was forced to retire lehigh scored their first counter in the 7th adams went out on an in field play ; ambler was safe when farrell mussed his hot grounder hess then smashed one of wil liams fast balls between left and center for a double ambler scoring in the ninth adams was safe on sensening's error amb ler popped a long fly to mcgraw but hess got first base when farrell made a poor throw in an effort for a double killing hay es hit a hot grounder to farrell and his throw was perfect but adams crossed the plate perm scored two more in the seventh when mcgraw's triple scored both schuff and holloway the score on wednesday afternoon i coach morris kanaly held the try-outs for the one mile relay team which is to represent the brown and white at the perm relay carnival today the re sults of the trials which were i run in the face of a very strong wind indicate that lehigh will be represented by a foitnidablei team the following men showed their ability in the trials and will make the trip to perm : j croll a springsteen h sieg mund c barba and j cox 1 also captain carol will run in the 220 and 100 yard events carol is conceded a good chance to win in either of these events by his performances so far this year m roth and j sanford will compete in the discus and hop-ski p-and jump events re spectively the relay carnival which is held every year at franklin field by the university of penn sylvania is now entering on the thirtieth year since its founding being started in 1894 the car nival promises to surpass all previous ones having drawn a record entry of 500 schools and colleges as in the past eleven years the carnival will have teams from cambridge eng land and canada making it an international affair the carnival is a two-day af fair with the world title events taking place on saturday this year the two-mile relay cham pionship promises to be the out standing event on the program with perm state cambridge and perm making the strongest bid for first place honors perm state now holds the record in this event and from present indica tions has an excellent chance of repeating last year's victory pennsylvania has captured a majority of the relay laurels it has offered for competition a recapitulation showing that the red and blue runners have won 30 championships in the five out standing features one two four-mile sprint and distance medley races yale is next with thirteen triumphs chicago third with ten to its credit while harvard and
