committee has stormy session representatives of students alumni and faculty arrive at no conclusion smaller groups chosen at the meeting held last fri day morning at 11 o'clock in coppee hall president rogers brought up several important questions before the class the first thing of importance being the passing of the proposed plan for the collection of class dues in the years to come that plan as suggested by dean mcconn provides for the payment of class dues directly to the treas urer of each class at the time of registration at the beginning of the collegiate year this will greatly benefit all the classes in so far as a great many men will be forced to pay their class dues who in other years have let them slide until their senior year the question of a suitable memorial gife from the class of 1924 to the university was also discussed but although several suggestions were made none has been accepted as yet the date of the class banquet was definitely settled and it is to be held april 3rd in all prob ability the 1924 banquet will be held at the bethlehem hotel and promises to be a big affair j frosh quintet loses by one university of minnesota defeated last week — three matches this week the rifle team has been very successful so far this season an active squad of r o t c men may be found daily on the rifle range in the basement of packer hall any r o t ch men interested in this sport are urged to come out for the team to at least gain experience so that they will be in line to make next year's team a good one practices and tryouts are held every monday tuesday and wednesday and matches are shot every thursday and fri day during the week of february j 25 lehigh defeated the unlver j sity of minnesota by the score j cf 497 to 496 the week of march 3 discriminate as to the most exciting event but le long's last plunge which tied best of swarthmore ranked as one of the most thrilling of the total number of events lehigh secured six first places and outside some thirty odd men discussed for four long hours the past present and future athletic policies of lehigh uni versity in the smoke laden at mosphere of the arcadia room of drown hall last friday even ing the members of this joint conference meeting on athletics congregated at the commons at six-thirty and there were treat ed to one of paul roestel's fam ous meals an hour later the group journeyed over to drown hall where the meeting soon got under way this meeting was called by the president dr charles russ richards in an endeavor to ar rive at some defenite conclus ions regarding the athletic pol icy of lehigh university at the request of president hudson of the alumni association dr richards acted as chairman of the meeting the meeting was held with full representation of faculty alumni and student delegates together with three members of the board of trus tees bishop talbot dr heury sturgis drinker president em eritus of lehigh university and aubrey weymouth every phase of the subject was thoroughly discussed incorrect impressions set right and many new facts brought to light it was soon realized that the joint comniit tee of the thirty members that were present was too large to bring the matter to a definite conclusion without a tremend ous amount of useless discus sion it was therefore decided that a smaller joint committee should be misun derstanding concerning these various subjects dr j stitt wilson who creat ed quite a favorable impression around the campus last year is to speak again at lehigh and will deliver six of his lectures during the early part of may y his reappearance here is of special interest to all students who may or may not have heard him last year with the approach of sum mer plans are being developed to send the largest lehigh dele gation ever to represent the 10 cal association at the silver bbayy y new york summer conference last summer nine delegates at tended from lehigh but this year many more should avail themselves of this opportunity the dates set for the conference are june 12 to 19 which is con venient to most college any students who are interested in attending the conference this summer should see mr harris before he leaves lehigh if any student is holding back because of financial difficulties it is possible that he can be assisted financially by the local associa tion the nativity dances due to the lenten season are tempor arily discontinued but will be resumed on the first friday af ter easter and will continue every friday night after that until early summer a new plan is to be inaugurated with the start of these dances again which will insure both host and guest of the success of the dances any student who wishes to attend these dances must ob tain a card from mr harris there is no charge for the these cards and any student of 1/4 high may obtain one for the asking the most unfortunate part of this successful run of activities is the resignation of mr harris from his position as v secre tary which after the first of april will leave the association temporarily without a trained leader mr harris is leaving to take up duties as editor of a weekly newspaper in jackson heights long island the asso ciation intends to have no gap in its activities however and under the guidance of the cab inet supervised by one senior who will be elected within this week the affairs of the v will be competently attended to the advisory committee met last tuesday and appointed a sub committee who will consider the qualifications of several continued on page c race which was to include rut gers another strong rival of the brown and white as the third entry rutgers declined how ever to enter a team and georgetown was then schedul ed to take the place of the
