probation although no action will be record ed on individual students records dean's office officials have indi cated that they will enforce arca dia's suggested action the probation period extends un til february 1 — the day before registration for the spring semester gordon hoare richards 3-b sec tion president has been elected president of the freshman class two freshman residence hall presidents were among the four class officers elected by the class cabinet last week dravo house president thomas bayer won the vice presidency drinker house president robert sof ferman became class secretary and dravo c-4 section president robert park was elected treasurer the four new officers told the brown and white sunday that they and the cabinet are already at work vice president bayer is head of a special cabinet committee in vestigating the causes of wrong im pressions of the freshmen which led to the lehigh-lafayette rioting upon his election to a class of five bayer resigned as president of dravo house with stuart schwerin of dravo d-2 succeeding him dean bennett to lecture on foreign policy at 8 dr edward d amstutz amstutz to head chemistry dept serfass resigns much of the meeting was devoted to description of ifc's part in the rescinding of the no-alcohol ban horton told the group that he and other members of the exec com mittee had played an important part in convincing the deans that the students who made the decision to place the student body on dis ciplinary probation had been misled into believing that no further ac tion would take place the secret meeting first one in many years for ifc follows by one year a highly-criticized closed arcadia session we had a dressing down to do we didn't want to wash any dirty laundry in public horton later told the paper in explain ing the secrecy horton closed the meeting at its outset he requested the brown and white reporter to leave and asked if any other attendees rep resented any other organization than ifc following the meeting he issued a statement to the paper which failed to refer to his statements on the dropping of the alcohol ban the delinquent ifc fines or the dirty rushing charges his statement did note however that a rushing committee had been appointed headed by herb mylks 60 the committee will write rush ing rules police fraternities during dushing and handle bidding of freshman it will also make spot checks on friday and saturday nights as soon as possible effective for the remainder of the year horton called on fraternity men to demonstrate better sportsman ship and reasonable amount of material to work with the magazine will be on time said ross chappie 62 chairman of the group the idea for such a magazine originated in a bull session the participants decried the lack of a medium of creative expression in the extant university atmosphere and vowed to correct the situation added chappie other attempts in the past struggled for a short time see expression page 6 ligious ethics and foreign policy scheduled for 8 p.m tonight in the osbourne room of the university center the lecture is being sponsored by the con cert lecture series and the in terfaith council author world traveler lecturer and theologian dr bennett has spent months in europe asia and japan lecturing and studying for the world council of churches the national christian council and ihe united church of christ in japan dr bennett a graduate of wil liams college and oxford university in england received his master of arts degree at oxford at union theological seminary he earned the degrees of bachelor of divinity and master of sacred theology honor ary degrees awarded him are doctor of divinity by church divinity school of the pacific pacific school of religion and williams
