distribution of the 1959 epitome is currently in process and books can be obtained through monday according to business manager eu gene mercy 59 mercy has released the fol lowing schedule for distribution of the yearbook saturday 10 a.m to 12 noon monday 1 p.m to 5 p.m books will be distributed from the epitome offices in the uc seniors can obtain their annuals from uc room c2ol residence halls council reversed its stand on graduate officers and adopted a measure accepting the program with provision for review after one semester at a special session tuesday night the group rescinded its action of may 13 when it adopted a motion by its arcadia representative jack branning stating rhc refuses to accept the imposition of resident officers until 1 rhc is consulted on the issue 2 an equitable agreement is reached between campbell and rhc on the plan and 3 the names of the men who are being considered for positions are submited to rhc for approval i don't believe any student government body has the right legally or morally to reject a regulation put into effect by the university's authority director of residence halls c b campbell told the group campbell appeared at the meeting to discuss the program with rhc and commented he objected to the word reject in the proposal rhc he felt could recommend object or ask for reconsidera tion but not reject " the original proposal itself was branded premature uncalled for and unnecessary by the residence halls chief he said he thought the motion should not have been made and should at least have been tabled until further discussion had taken place he warned the council that had they directed their action toward a person of less good will there would have been dire consequences campbell's off the record re marks concerned themselves with the rights duties and responsibili ties of rhc members as student government officers and the lines of authority in the chain of com mand in his office branning cited several points in campbell's talk which he said were not fair to the group campbell he noted told the group he wel comed and sought student opinion on any and all measures concern ing them branning stated that no one had consulted students in con junction with the graduate officer program during its planning stage branning said also he felt rhc was morally right in op posing the program and com mented the group didn't have to agree with the university's policy if they thought it was contrary to students welfare to endorse the program and ex hibit what campbell called posi tive leadership branning stressed was to act as a rubber stamp in answer to campbell's point that most residence halls students were uninformed on the issue and therefore could not act wisely see rhc page 3 interfraternity council monday balked at summer regulations for fraternity operation proposed by associate dean preston parr in a letter to house presidents following recommendations from the fraternity alumni ad visory council dean parr set up regulations requiring at least 12 members or approved guests be willing to live in the house during the summer for the house to be open the only new regulation effective this summer as a result of dean parr's declaration is that an alumni corporation representative must visit the opened house weekly problems pointed out by dean parr were as follows most houses were open with only six to eight men — in my judgment too few to afford a sound and satisfactory opera tion the informal life of so few men in a house tended toward sloppy housekeeping and unsanitary condi tions there has been generally a lack see alumnus page 5 new news set up walters reappointed editor faculty evaluation committee chairman bruce snyder 60 has an nounced several mistakes in the printing and distribution of faculty evaluation forms in printing the forms were cut short and insufficient room was allowed for comment those wishing to present com ments should do so by an at tached sheet an error was also made in the printing of a letter regarding dis tribution sent to each faculty mem ber instructors may pick up their evaluations at the chaplain's office after marks have been given out by michael erdheim i think this is perhaps the most unimportant and haphazard meeting arcadia has had all year blasted john talucci during a heated dis cussion over the priority of certain parliamentary rules of order this was arcadia's final meeting for the spring semes ter 1959 and all this was quiet evident with a delay of almost 20 minutes and almost unable to obtain a quo rum arcadia finally began its last spring meeting by correcting and approving the minutes of the last meeting following the approval of the minutes of the last meeting were the officers reports a motion to provide finances for the faculty evaluation sheets was unanimously passed the assistance and coop eration of arcadia during candi dates day was offered in the form of a motion to the faculty commit tee on admissions the vice-president's report was given in absentia by branning the treasurer's report was de ferred to a later time the treasurer was not present wilbur deparis here for senior weekend wilbur deparis picnic cocktail parties dances and just plain par lies all will be combined by the class of 1959 on senior weekend june 12-15 the first official function is the graduation ball friday night june 12 at the hotel bethlehem dancing will be from 9 p.m to 1 a.m with time out for cock tails and a buffet at midnight bob harry will provide music in the ballroom with the don moretta trio providing music to drink by in the cocktail lounge seniors graduating and other wise will exchange formal clothes for bermuda shorts friday after noon and head for hunsicker's grove for a combination of beer and wilbur deparis the dixieland great will pro vide a background music for the usual picnic goodies hot dogs hamburgers potato salad and of course beer dinner will be served at 6 p.m with a choice of lobster tail or chicken and all of the clams you can eat after the picnic which is sched see seniors page 5 editorial board newly appointed to sponsor a se ries of faculty lectures next year thomas gilhool president of the class of 1960 announced last night the proposal to initiate four lectures during the coining year was approved by odk senior leadership honorary wednes day night and approved by the senior class cabinet last night the purpose of such a lecture se ries will be to provide a platform for outstanding members of the le high faculty gilhool explained the cabinet hopes to bring to the stu dents the outstanding professors whom they would not be able to hear unless enrolled in their courses this is the first time such a lecture series has been accom plished by a student group said gilhool both students and the faculty have pointed to this as an area in which lehigh is deficient the lecture committee head ed by wight
