that he will consider releasing for pub lication the names of fraternity of fenders in the future a useful four-letter summary symbol is employed by the dean in describing his program — berp it stands for broth ers end residual primitivism referring in particular to the ifc executive committee's recommenda tions to lehigh's 30 fraternities re garding off-campus pledge practices and lack-of-slecp practices leith warned that he may abandon his current practice of protecting the identities of chapter violators ifc president carl schier told the brown and white wednesday that he would read the notifying letter from the dean at monday's ifc meeting and comment on the proposal at that time he noted count would increase drastically in the future bethlehem city physician dr wilfred m vogler jr reported on wednesday that there certainly is an epidemic city authorities have received reports of 240 cases since the beginning of the year although most of the cases are not serious three years ago in march of 1956 a measles outbreak which threat ened to develop into a campus epi demic forced cancellation of classes a week prior to the scheduled spring vacation it was the first mid-semes ter closing of school in the univer sity's history despite a mounting number of measles cases described as at epi demic stage in the bethlehem area the university is currently exper iencing only a normal number of cases dr george mccoy director of the university health service told the brown and white on wedensday that he has treated one case of ordinary measles and several cases of the ger man variety he pointed out that although the possibility of an increase was unpredict able he saw no indication that the university's measles gifts and giving pros procure lehigh funds editor's note this leges category according to paul franz assistant to the president and director of the development office the statistics given in the report are misleading be cause there are many differences and auditorium pro musica to give pre-bach concert lehigh's all-university average reached the 2.027 mark during the fall semester — the highest fall aver age in four years two fraternities lambda chi alpha and delta upsilon failed to make the 1.8 scholarship mark will thus be placed on probation according to figures released by the registrar's office the gryphon society for the third time in as many semesters led the scholarship race attaining a 2.994 tau delta phi attained top aver age among the fraternities with a 2.664 edging out theta chi which placed second among the greeks with a 2.421
