announce that lehigh's fall houseparty will start at 4 p.m friday the highlight of the weekend the hp formal will be held that same night in grace hall from 9 p.m to 1 a.m and will feature dave bru beck elliott lawrence and matt gillespie of course a few other things will take place or at least are scheduled to take place such as living group cocktail parties and dinners before the dance parties after the dance on friday saturday activities will in clude football game with a high powered rutgers team in tay lor stadium followed by living group theme parties and all which this activity usually in volves until 4 a.m dst sunday will be a welcomed day of rest devoted chiefly to going io church getting rid of hangovers and finally allowing your female part ner-in-crime for the weekend to re dr to land already owned by the university will allow expan sion of intramural athletic facilities the steel company will pay for development of south mountain park a tract that will provide picnic and league park and swimming pool will be constructed there by the city the university in cooperation dr m candler lazenby assistant professor of german here since 1946 died sunday night at st lukes hos pital he was 49 he taught his german 1 and 9 classes up until a week ago saturday he was taken to st luke's early last week born in forrest home ala he was a son of the late rev marion and sarah feagin lazenby he received his b.a from birmingham southern college in 1930 his m.a from vanderbilt university in 1933 and his ph.d from johns hopkins university in 1940 he did further study at the dfhich is now under construc tion by tom ruddell a shrill warning whistle then a deep throb a lon of rock and earth is shot skyward then it settles in a swirl of dust and smoke multi-ton earthmovers giant bulldozers and crates of dyna mite are changing the shape of south mountain a clay sun-baked clearing stands where a road once threaded its way between ranging trees a rock pile covers a restful spot where houseparty dates once fidget ed in the moonlight a slope covered by matted foliage has been replaced by a bare plain of rock fill this is progress millions of dollars worth of progress it is a project that will place on a once-lonely mountain crest three areas of development a park for the people of bethlehem a massive laboratory for the tech nicians of bethlehem steel co and an intramural athletic field for the students of lehigh plans for the 1,000-acre south mountain development program have existed for several years but the first step toward actual fulfillment of the plan was carried out on jan 21 when the city of bethlehem an nounced its approval of a three-wi land swap . the land deal was designed to benefit the three parties concerned bethlehem steel turned over
