cheese offering of herman wouk's came mutiny court martial tonight at 8 p.m in broughal jr high school it will be repeated tomorrow at 7:30 p.m saturday afternoon at 3 lehigh's own christmas city six swing into a wild jazz concert a sno ball in novation at grace hall upper floor this marks the first major appear ance of the group on campus this year the band has represented le high on many eastern college campuses the six has also ap peared at new york's central plaza and for twenty weeks at ye olde mushroom fram in west orange n.j highlight of the weekend is the annual sno ball from 9 to 1 satur day evening grace hall upper floor walt simpson and his band will play for the fete tickets for the weekend are available in a package deal for see christmas page 8 each received one disciplinary de merit for attempting to obtain extra tickets for the vmi football game by presenting their pre-punched id cards at the gate on the receipt of reports from the freshman disciplinary council four freshman each received two univer sity demerits and two dormitory de merits for possession of alcoholic beverages in the residence halls two students received three univer sity demerits and two dormitory de merits for wanton desctruction of university property and two univer sity demerits and two dormitory de merits were assessed to two fresh men for involvment in the destruc see alcohol page 3 at the regular meeting of the uni versity committee on discipline last tuesday 13 university disciplinary demerits and 24 dormitory disciplin ary demerits were assessed 69 un dergraduates £, % six students were assessed two disciplinary demerits each and were required to purchase new identification cards the offense was filing false information re garding birth date on id cards and for knowingly carrying and using same forty five students each received two disciplinary demerits for filing false identi fication which was detected be fore the id card was issued three seniors and one sophomore the came mutiny court-martial will be presented at 8 tonight and 7:30 p.m tomorrow mustard and cheese dramatic club is producing the play at broughal jr high school as a feature of the sno ball week end herman wouk's pulitzer priic winning play had a long run on broadway where lloyd nolan as queeg portrayed the char acter of a man under stress james russel will become the psychotic captain during the sno ball weekend production the play revolves around the question of the guilt or innocence of the executive officer of the came who assumes command of the ship during a typhoon in mid-pacific maryk the exec of the ship main tains that queeg was incapable of command and the ship's safety de pended on his assuming command see queeg page 5 wlrn to carry lambert award offense and defense washington picks nolan anintensified two-week drive to secure 100 per cent participation in the class of 1958 memorial gift plan was initiated tuesday evening at a kick-off dinner attended by over 100 members of the senior class in the hotel bethlehem president martin d whitaker addressing the group said the plan will tend to hold the interest in the class and its present ties with the university the unwersity will benefit more from increased interest than from the dollars involved although we need the money badly he added the drive which will continue through dec 19 will be led by 100 seniors who will each be responsible for soliciting agreements from five classmates the assemblage heard class presi dent charles tillinghast and co chairman for the drive pete biehl and joe gratto urge conscientious ness on the part of the solicitors in an effort to secure over 150,000 to be donated to the university in the form of a class gift when the class convenes for its 20th reunion each member of the senior class received a letter about the drive this week the campaign volunteers will provide each class member with additional in formation on the plan twenty minutes after the group left the banquet hall close to 20 per cent subscription to the plan had been secured when 88 seniors signed agreements gordis to talk at interfaith religion confab interfaith council will present dr robert gordis as the leader at the 12th conference on religion mon day and tuesday the session is the first of three conferences on religion to be presented this year by the in terfaith council dr gordis is an associate profes sor of bible at the jewish theolog ical seminary he is also well known for several books he has authored on biblical study and the problems of the modern world the focal point of the conference will be dr gordis's lecture in pack ard lab auditorium at 8 monday night he will speak on the sub ject do intelligent people need religion the lecture is open free of charge to everyone as in the past the conference leader will also deliver several lec tures to individual classes dr gor dis will speak to religion 1 class on the importance of the dead sea scrolls and to the . philosophy 15 group on the book of ecclesiastes lehigh sports fans will be able to hear the complete lambert cup pre sentations this sunday from 4 to 6:30 p.m as wlrn broadcasts them directly from new york toots shor's restaurant will be the first spot visited by station members bob walters dick elston jamie maconachy bob pierson and john hood as they describe the ceremonies later in the day they will tape record interviews with television star ed sullivan on whose show the presentation will be repeated and with the lambert brothers sponsors of the trophy these two tapes and a recording of the presentation portion of sul livan's show will be broadcast mon day at 8:45 p.m airmen to hold tea sunday in grace tea will be served on the upper floor of grace hall sunday after noon from 2 to 4 as the department of air science the arnold air so ciety and the sabre society present the annual air force tea top university and military offi cers are invited to the affair tea will be poured by the wives of fac ulty officials and administration members washington d.c special to b&w coach joe kuharich of the washington redskins is going to try to fit dan nolan into both offensive and defensive operations of the skins next year kuharich who has been plagued by shoddy pass defense all season told the brown and white wednesday that he would like to make dan a deep defensive back next season to help out this situation all reports said the redskin coach who made nolan his fourth draft choice monday in the prelim inary pro football draft show that nolan is an out standing offensive quarterback defensive reports were also good but no flowery he could become a good defensive back — the kind we need kuharich said nolan is tall rangy physi cally fit and has the intelligence needed to become a good pro football player he also has fairly good speed the head coach of the washington club main tamed that reports on nolan showed it worthwhile to make him an early draft choice kuharich doesn't intend to limit dan to mere defen sive work however he'll get the chance to play offensive ball he promised nolan will play a lot of football — especially in the six pre-season games of the skins after that it will be up to dan kuharich realizes that dan likes to play offensive ball but i just hope that he doesn't think this is his only forte the coach said a good
