and addition al parking areas for athletic events are • among the reasons lehigh en tered a recent land deal which in cluded acquisition and trades by lehigh bethlehem steel and the city of bethlehem here is what happened 1 bethlehem steel bought an old knitting mill and ground located at sixth and atlantic sts and will deed it to the city for a playground 2 bethlehem deeded the indian park property on south mountain to bethlehem steel which in turn will give it to lehigh 3 to replace the indian park area the steel company will give bethlehem a large tract atop south mountain located to the west of the new research center lehigh wants the indian park area in order to develop it for intra-mural sports at present the park has a large picnic ground and is the home of two little league baseball leagues lehigh will develop this property for its own uses but will construct and maintain little league fields for the south side teams it is understood that bethlehem steel needs a portion of the indian park area for parking for their new research center and for access roads to the center site bethlehem steel crews are already at work cutting trees and surveying the site frosh to create skits for lafayette contest tickets for the lehigh-lafayette game on november 23 will be avail able on monday and tuesday nov 18 and 19 to establish the order in which living groups would be permitted to pick up their tickets two drawings were held the first drawing set a priority list for student tickets one per i.d card and for married students who wish a second ticket this second ticket costs 3.50 the second drawing is for those students who wish more than one ticket with the exception of married students who want two except for town groups tickets for the first drawing should be picked up pre sented to them by the university for payment of police at the entrance to sayre park saturday of houseparty the fraternity group made the vote after a long discussion on the motion it was defeated by a wide margin some of the reasons given by rep resentatives were if ifc pays the bill for this houseparty we will probably be paying them for all coming housepartys the students did not have any voice about how many police were to be hired or how much the were to be paid most of the men present seemed to be of the opinion that it was not the amount of the bill that was objec tionable but the fact that they were presented with a bill for services which they had no voice in selecting and which some deemed unneces sary don garravanti president of ifc informed the group that dean parr will discuss the mat ter at a meeting with ifc rhc a representative from the treas urer's office and others in other actions at the meeting dudley johnson assistant professor of economics was elected faculty advisor to ifc the selection is pending on the acceptance of the post by johnson a letter was read to the meeting from university of delaware report ing that a dormitory spirit trophy was missing from a women's resi dence hall the sender of the letter re quested if any one at lehigh knows about this trophy to re turn it to the school or to any ifc officer no questions will be asked . john mimnaugh made a motion that ifc appoint a committee to help fraternities get better acquaint ed with foreign students inoculate now to defeat 2nd flu onslaught serious new flu wave due to hit here soon read a headline in a recent edition of the philadelphia inquirer authorities warn that possibly two more waves of asian influ enza can attack the area both of them with more serious conse quences than the first yet only 100 lehigh students have taken advantage of the low-cost in fluenza vaccine opportunity at the health center those who have received one inoculation should get another one as a booster after a month dr mccoy announced the health center has plenty of vaccine we can get more if needed the fifty cent price is very reason able inoculation will be available any time of day at the health center we want the entire student body protected mccoy concluded deft cleric confuses amuses science not set on sand ' cyanide is sponsoring a pre-lafay ette freshman skit contest all freshman residence hall sections are required to stage a skit depicting the traditional rivalry with lafayette trials will be held in packard lab auditorium nov 19 and 20 the basis for judging will be originality uniqueness presen tation and the relationship to the age-old tradition of the lafayette-lehigh rivalry the two winners of each day will compete at the pep rally nov 22 in grace hall the rules for the contest are every freshman section must put on a skit every skit must be three or four minutes long expenditures shall not exceed ten dollars with an itemized list to be submitted to the class cabinet schedule for skit trials which he drove home with emphasis he spoke extemporaneously until the third major part of his lecture and referred to notes then it appeared only to be sure not to lose his non-professional audience because of its un familiarity with his material unfortunately at this point even more capable math students among undergraduates had begun to fall by the wayside the title of father clark's lecture is regarded by many experts as the most crucial intellectual question of this century he reviewed briefly the approach to problems in mathematics and then established that the relationship between a set of mathematical and physical entities is known as an isomorphism and describes the logical structure on which the systems and the fourth visit here father clark lectured on is modern science set on mathematical quick sands he was heard with mixed reactions and different degrees of appreciation by an audience of about 400 a most engaging speaker father clark ranged the width of the speaker's platform chalk in hand to demonstrate an acute master of audience and subject matter mathematicians listened absorbed and intent while
