the next two weeks eight members of the class of 58 to serve as team members captains and members will at tend the kickoff dinner each of the 100 or more team members will be responsible for contacting and soliciting five mqm bers of the class for a subscription to the gift plan at the wednesday meeting the captains turned down a proposal for an increase in the amount of the gift from 300 49,000 the funds for the facilities have been made available through the 1957-1958 annual-giving campaign among the uses of the machine are the training of individuals in computer operation research proj ects and industrial computation work the laboratory has been set up in packard laboratory under the supervision of the department of industrial engineering prof wil liam a smith jr has been named administrative director designed to store 4096 words the computer has a memory suit able for the majority of com plex scientific problems that might be assigned to an auto matic computer it is about
