tag on lehigh's football team came to an end saturday the offense clicked off 349 yards behind consistent gains of lehigh runners and some accurate passing as they combined with a tight defense to halt the engineers traditional rivals muhleiy berg 26-13 at taylor stadium dave walters paced the sudden offensive reformation by gain ing 118 yards including five and 51 yard runs for two lehigh touchdowns the fleet halfback combined his speed and driving ability to pick up seven yards per carry in piling up the top ground gaining total for a single game this season tom gloede george o'brien and marty maurer were also in on the offensive spurt gloede who is rapidly developing into a good quarterback ran the team well and passed for 87 yards including a 56-yard td play on which ace receiver tom gunn made a nice grab whenever walters was not hauling the ball o'brien or maur er crashed through the line for a good gain with o'brien adding 57 yards and lehigh's other touch down to his team-leading rushing total car skids on campus two damsels upset frosh tug lafayette dinks go freshmen from lehigh and la fayette meet in their third annual tug-of-war here friday afternoon the contest will be held between halves of the freshman football game between the two schools starting time is 2:30 p.m fifty-six men from each school symbolizing the class of 56 will compete if the lehigh freshmen win their dinks will no longer have to be worn according to ron madison cyanide member in charge of the tug-of-war to determine the members of the team a practice will be held thursday at 4 p.m all freshmen wishing to try out are welcome madison said the team captain will also be chosen at that time gym credits will be given for the practice session and the actual contest those members of the team who have 3 p.m classes will receive excused absences the freshmen will be pulling on a one and one-half inch thick 250 foot long rope donated by bethle hem steel company it was obtain ed through the courtesy of samuel d gladdi 11 who is division su perintendent of the steer company the tug of war series was begun in 1950 lehigh has won both con tests to date following the accident damage to the green sedan was estimated to be about 250 by campus police miss presing commented that the car skidded and couldn't stop at the turn the car ended up on its right side facing the direction whence it had come the car was owned by miss presing's brother now in the serv ive the grill hood right doros and fenders and the roof were dented and scraped miss presing seemed to be concerned about her mother's comments asking what will mother say a lafayette sticker uriexplainably fixed to the rear window remained a drizzly rain and slippery roads combined their effectiveness will be an assortment of dramatic sketches and readings from litera ture carradine will present some of the best-known scenes from shakespeare and will include se lections from other english poets as well as readings from the bible abraham lincoln's addresses and mark twain scenes from some of his recent broadway successes will also be included these are the madwoman of chaillot the leading lady and twen tieth century from his motion picture roles carradine will do scenes from winterset jessie j a jmj c s stagecoach les miserables and under two flags born in new york city carra dine is the son of a london corres john carradine where he was educated in the pub lic schools and the graphic arts school he originally planned a career night must fall one day late the second mustard and cheese participation in all lehigh musical activities by the music de partment and another member of the dance band was placed on band probation for the current year bernie argyle 53 has been barred because of alleged ungen tlemanly conduct in a dispute stemming from the dismissal by robert boudreau faculty advisor of ralph bach 53 from the band bach since has been reinstated but will also be similarly banned upon any provocation boudreau dismissed bach from the collegians after he failed to play with the group at gov adlai stevenson's whistlestop speech wednesday oct 29 at union sta tion although the group was play ing not as the collegians but as individuals boudreau said he felt bach still should have been there under the attendance regula tions set up when boudreau be came faculty adviser this fall bach was subject to dismissal be cause he had been absent from a performance once and had been late once before bach contended that because he had an 11 a.m class he was sup posed to meet the rest of the band at the corner of packer aye and new st at noon due to a mixup the others had not appeared by 12:20 he then went down to the station and when he saw that the band was not there either he went back to his house since he had a 1 p.m lab when bach did not appear boudreau told argyle he was dis missing him argyle argued that bach was not there because of an nadvertent confusion
