AAiddleweights Turn Tide; Diekel, Brown Finish Up *> LI i * ELLEN SILVER Lehigh's hopes of a winning wrestling season were boosted last Saturday as the Engineers registered a 22-12 triumph over Navy at Annapolis. It was a hard-earned triumph, coming after the Engineers had lost the first two bouts, and the eventual margin of victory was a surprise. Earlier coach Thad Turner's squad had romped 38-6 at the expense of Cornell only to drop a 22-15 verdict against Cleveland State in a meet during which Lehigh won only three bouts. With the season record standing at 6-and-6 the Engineers need a triumph at Syracuse on Friday (2/17) to pack away their 31st winning mark in the last 32 years and build up a full head of steam for the upcoming EIWA and NCAA tournaments. Brian Yates, of Clarksboro, NJ, got Lehigh on the board at Annapolis with a 13-9 win at 134 over highly-rated freshman Craig Dellorso. Peter Yozzo (142) of Sayville, NY, and Tom Toggas (150) of York, PA, two Lehigh frosh, followed with triumphs and co-captain Jim Reilly, of North Wales, PA, won at 167 over another Navy star, Jim Reich, 9-4. Yozzo whipped Middie captain Don Schleicher, 11-3, while Toggas pulled off a 3-2 upset at the expense of Kevin Bianchi. This pair of victories put Lehigh ahead in the meet, 10-6. Reilly kept the Engineers out front and late wins by Paul Diekel at 190 and Bernie Brown at heavyweight completed the successful comeback.
