Horn, a sophomore from Short Hills, NJ, completed 10 of 19 passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns. Opet, a senior from Tamaqua, PA, carried the ball 14 times for 122 yards and a touchdown, and caught a scoring pass. The Engineers, who had to wait until their fifth game in 1982 before getting a victory, made sure there'd be no delay in 1983. They scored the first three times they handled the ball, for a 21-0 advantage, and Northeastern never could get into the game. Touchdown No. 1 came on a 58-yard drive featuring Horn's passing and a couple of key runs by fullback Doug Ertz and tailback Peter Schreck, both of West Lawn, PA. Horn fired the last 10 yards to tight end Jeff Hunt, of Nazareth, PA, for the points. The second Engineer TD came on a six-play, 41-yard march after tackle Wayne Kasbar of Summit, NJ, pounced on a Northeastern fumble. Schreck skirted left end on a 12-yard scoring jaunt to make it 14-0 one play after Dominic LaSelva of Pottsville, PA, made a spectacular catch of a Horn aerial. Touchdown No. 3 followed on another 58-yard drive with Opet turning in the key ground yardage and the score coming on a 16-yard toss from Horn to split end Rennie Benn, also of Short Hills, NJ. With 3:16 still left in the first period the Engineers had a 21-0 edge. Lehigh didn't score again until late in the third stanza, on a 22-yard field goal by Jim Scott of Boonsboro, MD, who converted after every touchdown. In the fourth quarter Opet grabbed a 17-yard TD pass from reserve quarterback Tony Semler, of Allentown, PA, and (Continued on Page 2) Game At A Glance LEHIGH 21 0 3 14—38 Northeastern 0 7 3 0—10 L—Hunt 10 pass from Horn.
