Alumni Awn., Alumni Memorial Bldg. #27, Bethlehem, PA'18015 Lehigh holds the record for most points ever scored against Penn State in a football game. The Engieers won 106-0 at Bethlehem in 1889. Pete Carril, head basketball coach at Princeton, had that post for one year at Lehigh University. His Engineers were 11- 12 in 1967. Four Interceptions, Safety Help Lehigh Boost Record To 5-2 Defense did the job last weekend as Lehigh footballers got past Bucknell with an 18-0 victory before 8,800 Homecoming Day spectators. It was the Engineers' fifth triumph against two defeats. Saturday the team returns home, after two weeks on the road, facing Davidson in Taylor Stadium at 1:30 p.m. The victory over the Bisons was a typical one at Lewisburg, Pa., with the Engineers rolling up a much greater statistical advantage than showed on the scoreboard. They led 25-12 in first downs, 210-52 in yards rushing, 266-137 in yards passing and 476-189 in total yards but could manage only two touchdowns (one of them on a broken play), one conversion, a safety and a field goal. Bucknell intercepted a couple of passes, recovered two fumbles and got a big lift as the Engineers were hit with nine penalties for 96 yards. The Lambert Cup Pts 1. Shippensburg 7-0 49 2. The two-pointer came on Bucknell's first play from scrimmage after a fumble had turned the ball over at the 16, ending a promising Lehigh drive following the game- opening kickoff. Quarterback Ed Hughes dropped back behind the goal line to pass and was smothered by Nielsen. A 55-yard kickoff return by Chris Sexton, of Brussels, Belg., had set up the Lehigh threat and another excellent return, this one for 39 yards by Ed Godbolt of Bethlehem, Pa., on Bucknell's free kick following the safety, gave the Engineers another early opportunity. With the ball at the Bison 17 quarterback Larry Michalski, of Pittsburgh, Pa., connected on an apparent scoring pass to split end Dan Ryan, of Guilderland, N.Y., but a penalty nullified the play.
