Matmen (7-2) Sweep Southern Rivals, . ■ Extend Iowa State, 22-13; Cagers 5-8 Take Amherst, FDU; Brown Nearing Lehigh Point Title Lehigh's basketball team was busy during the holiday break. The Engineers played six times, including Albright and Fairfield invitational tournaments, and won twice to bring their record to 5-and-8. At Reading, Pa., they dropped a 91-71 decision to host Albright in the first round of that tourney but came back one night later to whip Amherst for third place, 82-61. The following week they dropped another first round game to Fairfield, 108-74, at Fairfield, Conn., and again came back with a strong effort the following night before bowing to St. Francis of Loretto, Pa., 85-83. In a unique doubleheader at Moravian College the Engineers buried Fairleigh-Dickinson of Madison, N.J., by a 65-point margin, 96-31, in their part of the twin bill. Moravian whipped Ursinus in the nightcap. The final appearance during the semester break came at Seton Hall where the high- powered Pirates prevailed, 96-71. Senior forward Charlie Brown, of Morristown, N.J., continued his bid to become Lehigh's all- time scoring champion as he reached 1,128. Only Bob Fortune (1,242 from 1968-70) and Norm Brand!
