During the 9 a.m. ceremony at Goodman Stadium, Russert will receive an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree. Lehigh Senior Class President Katie Breckenridge of Erie, Pa., says Russert is an excellent choice as commencement speaker. "As the host of Meet the Press, he has spoken one-on- one with many of the most important figures of the 21st century," Breckenridge says. "He is one of the most respected political analysts of our times and has contact on a weekly basis with the most important decision makers in America." Breckenridge says that she and her fellow class officers, Vice President Brandon Rogers of Perryville, Md., Secretary Jessica L. Mouravieff of Ridgewood, N.J., Treasurer Brad E. "As one of the most influential and thoughtful journalists in the world, Tim Russert has a distinct perspective on the world into which we are sending our graduates," says Gregory Farrington, Lehigh president. "At Lehigh, our students learn that having a global perspective, asking the right questions, and being a great listener are critical skills for success. I know that Tim Russert's message to the Class of 2003 will resonate strongly with graduates, parents, families, and friends." Russert took over the helm of Meet the Press in December 1991.
