cided favorite lafayette who has won only two games this season will conclude one of the worst sea sons in the history of the easton institution since the series started lafayette has won 40 games while lehigh has been victorious in 24 four games have been tied lehigh will be seeking its second straight victory over the leopards the game last year resulted in a 13-7 victory for the brown and has scored only 39 points and has yielded 249 lehigh has broken even in the eight games played this season up sala haverford dickinson and muhlenberg have been defeated by one-sided scores four games have been lost to rutgers gettysburg princeton and perm state lehigh has scored 109 points and has had 114 scored against it lafayette defeats mules lafa3 rette defeated muhlenberg 7-0 in the second game of the sea son while lehigh won from the mules in the seventh game 26-6 both teams were defeated by rut gers by approximately the same score rutgers scored 33 points against lafayette and 27 prevention supplementing national fire pre vention week george elliott secre tary of the philadelphia chamber of commerce spoke tuesday in packard auditorium on fire loss experience mr elliott pointed out that the united states per capital loss from fire is 5 while in other countries it ranges downward to 65 cents in spite of the fact that this nation has the best fire-fighting equipment in the world the principal cause of fires in this country is careless ness no matter where a fire occurs it is a loss for the citizens of the en tire nation mr elliott cited as an example that a fire in a massachu setts shoe factory would be detri mental here because it would raise the price of shoes in bethlehem ii spite of the comparatively high per capita loss it is much less now than it was ten years ago in 1925 in philadelphia the total loss from fires was 6,333,000 or a per capita loss of 6.35 in 1935 in the same city the total loss was 1,750,000 of a per capita loss of 1.34 preceding the mechanical engineering gave his definition of the engineer at the pi tau sigma banquet held last evening at the sun inn fol lowing the initation at packard lab oratory professor connelly said that an engineer must combine common sense with the theoretical knowl edge which he obtains from his stu dies he also stated that the course societies were as important as the subjects as here the engineer adds greatly to his knowledge of his par ticular course not much differ ence existed between the mechani cal and industrial engineering courses stated professor connelly the retiring faculty adviser alex ander w luce associate professor of machine design expressed his appreciation of his contact with the society and urged them to call on him if need arose he said that with the help of the faculty series which started in 1884 the game which is expected to attract about 18,000 people will be played at 2 p m in taylor sta dium for the first time in a decade le high will enter the game as the de cided favorite lafayette who has won only two games this season will conclude one of the worst sea sons in the history of the easton institution since the series started lafayette has won 40 games while lehigh has been victorious in 24 four games have been tied lehigh will be seeking its second straight victory over the leopards the game last year resulted in a 13-7 victory for the brown and white this was lehigh's second victory since the world war win for herb is the lafayette slogan for this game the maroon and white are particularly desirous of winning tomorrow because it will be the last game that a lafayette team will play under the coaching of herb mccracken leopard coach resigns mccracken who was tendered a testimonial dinner tuesday night by the students of lafayette has an nounced his resignation as head coach he has been with the col lege since 1924 of the 12 games that have been played with lehigh during this time lafayette has been victorious in ten of the games played so far la fayette has won from only muhlen berg and baltimore two especially weak teams on the other hand the leopard has been mauled by perm yale colgate albright moravian and rutgers the team has scored only 39 points and has yielded 249 lehigh has broken even in the eight games played this season up sala haverford dickinson and muhlenberg have been defeated by one-sided scores four games have been lost to rutgers gettysburg princeton and perm state lehigh has scored 109 points and has had 114 scored against it lafayette defeats mules lafa3 rette defeated muhlenberg 7-0 in the second game of the sea son while lehigh won from the mules in the seventh game 26-6 both teams were defeated by rut gers by approximately the same score rutgers scored 33 points against lafayette and 27 against lehigh although lehigh did not play any actual game with moravian scrim mages were held with the northside college earlier in the season lehigh had plenty of trouble solving the flanker system father of col nelson a kellogg director of ath letics died at him home in battle creek mich saturday morning colonel kellogg was called home last week-end and arrived shortly before his father died
