by kristen chanley news editor willingness to change is key to engineers future by jennifer kucharski news writer norman augustine ceo of lockheed martin corporation spoke to lehigh stu dents and faculty in packard auditorium wednesday afternoon about the ever-chang ing fields of engineering and business the purpose of my lecture is to view change from several different perspectives and explore the implications of change of cohege graduates augustine said augustine who also spent wednesday serving as executive-in-residence of lacocca hall and the college of engineering and applied science spoke about the impact of personal change by relating a story from his college years in his freshman year at princeton university the colorado native decide to major in geological engineering however he felt the science aspect was not exact see augustine page 5 enough for his liking and he switched his major to aeronautical engineering augustine stressed the importance of always being prepared for life changes augustine talked about charles darwin's theory that the creatures who survive are not the strongest nor the most intelligent but rather those who can adapt to change tim eck herman 98 realizing there is a greater demand for parking spots on lower campus than the university can cur rently supply we suggested the university improve the busing system herman said the changes which are effective immediately include the addition of two bus stops as well as the posting of bus stop signs throughout campus the two new stops are located at the stairs above beta theta pi fraternity and at the stairs below alpha chi omega sorority strategically placed signs mark each campus bus stop buses traveling up the hill toward mountaintop campus stop at e.w fairchild-martindale library williams hall drown hall sigma phi epsilon fra ternity lambda chi alpha fraternity rauch field house and saucon village after circling back to stop at both rauch field house and mountaintop campus again the buses will stop at the alpha chi omega stairs beta theta pi stairs taylor college taylor gymnasium whitaker laboratory and finally e.w fairchild-martindale it is easier to step outside your living area go to one of the designated bus stops and catch a ride down to class herman said it conveniences the , students by eliminating the need to rush down to class in an effort to get a parking spot that usually is not there erin jones 99 a student senator on the com mittee for parking and transportation said if the students are more informed about the bus system they will be
