house-party weekends at least three times a semester during these weekends social events would be limited to hosts and their invited guests the belief is that this policy will enable hosts to better control their events and reduce the risk of having things stolen or facilities dama ged this policy will also discourage non lehigh people from attending campus parties the third revision passed will require all hosts of social events to take part in special training progr ams designed to assist them in complying with the social policy the program is to be run by the dean of students staff the rationale is the apparent need for on going education regarding the social policy senior rob ripp ifc president said these changes came from the ifc in response to the current social scene on the hill teams to the packers was passed by the forum xvii at its meeting last thursday english professor edward gallagher speaking for the motion said that an academic issue was involved here he explained that lehigh was not getting the best humanities and social science students because of the current nickname and the public image it presents gallagher said that a nickname change would help improve the student body history pro fessor william shade suggested splitting the motion into two separate con siderations w hether lehigh should consider changing the name altogether and if so whether it should be the packers the motion was voted down president peter likins said that lehigh was a different place than 50 years ago when most students were in the college of engineering and physical sciences likins added that enrollment per centages have increased in the other colleges and that this issue matters in terms of the id s at all parties having house-party weekends and bartending training the first revision will require hosts to check id s of all guests at all unlocked entrances to the social event the rationale behind this new policy is that while the old policy of checking
