lehigh university brown and white vol 77 no 46 bethlehem pa tuesday april 26 1966 8660331 fijis on probation will hove no hp by neal arluck monday night's incident in sayre park has resulted in severe disciplinary action against phi gamma delta dean william quay assistant dean of student life confirmed that last week's meeting of the ifc judi ciary committee recommended the closing of phi gam for houseparty weekend and the confiscation of all identification cards no member of phi gam will be permitted at any party that weekend or allowed on campus there may also be cancellation of phi gam's alumni weekend ralph sat her 67 ifc judiciary committee chair man added that the recommendations include social probation for the rest of the semester phi gam is also being fined 100 for violation of firearms and explosives regulations contacted by telephone dean preston parr dean of student life said that although he has not yet received the committee's proposals formally he has spoken informally with dean quay and has given ap proval to the recommendations tony narducci 67 president of phi gam told the brown and white that he would see dean charles brennan on monday to appeal the decision of the ju diciary committee he said that " we are being pun ished for something we didn't do narducci said that he had talked to some of the campus policemen and that " even the officer who was abused does not want action to be carried out we're being used as a scapegoat to satisfy city demands for action the general feeling of the fra ternities is that we're being treated unfairly he remarked narducci explained that after speaking to quay there was a good chance that phi gam would the brothers four will appear in concert in grace hall at 8:30 p.m friday no strangers to college affairs the former university of washington fraternity brothers present american and foreign folk songs houseparty time again bands concert and girls by dan gladding this friday the university will again pull out all its social stops with the arrival of spring house - party saturday classes will be can celled bands will play the brothers four will present a concert women will make their presence known and hangovers will be endured the weekend will be opened with a friday-evening concert by the folk singing group the brothers four the concert beginning at 8:30 p.m will con sist of a wide-ranging presen tation of light ethnic songs bal lads of social protest foreign folk songs and american folk music the group has been prominent in the united states since its single greenfields became popular in 1959 meeting as fra ternity brothers at the university of washington the group has since produced many albums and has performed on countless college campuses tickets for the concert are available through living group social chairmen at the student activities desk in the university center or at the door if any remain unsold at that time the cost is 5 per couple also to be presented at the concert friday evening will be the winner of the houseparty queen contest students ma v vote for the queen today and tom orrow in front of the univer sity post office finalists and their dates will receive reserved front-row seats for the contest with the winner receiving dinner for two at the casa del blu in allentown the winner will be chosen from four finalists by a panel of judges to provide living quarters for houseparty dates the residents of mcclintic-marshall will move out of their dormitory by 4 p.m friday to allow dates to live there for the weekend likewise most fraternity men will move out of their houses to allow dates a place to stay all living groups housing females will have resident chaperones selected by the university and paid for by the living group offically the arrival time for seven escape serious injury in accidents by tom roberts three lehigh students and four other persons escaped serious injury in two separate weekend automobile accidents on rain-slicked roads according to donald cook 66 of delta upsilon he was driving his 1963 chevrolet impala convertible along eighth street onto the campus around midnight when he saw a car swerving approaching him " it appear ed he wouldn't stop cook said ln refer ence to the other car " there were trees on the light side of the road so i tried to turn left into the parking lot he added cook's car struck a recently-installed guard rail separating the lot from the road cook and a passenger in the car harry moroz 67 were treated at st luke's hospital for head cuts and releaaed damage to the car was 500 " at the bare minimum said cook however he was insured to cover the costs of repairing the car and replacing the guard rail in the second accident which occurred almost simultaneously involved don watts a waynesburg student watts was at lehigh for a phi sigma kappa regional basketball tourney and was driving wnh mike frank 66 when the accident oc curred they were taking three cedar crest girls back to allentown watts who was unfamiliar with the roads in lower saucon township failed to nego tiate a turn along on old philadelphia pike and ran into a culvert knocking over a small sign in the process the car a 1965 karrnann ghia was damaged moderately in tlte crash and was ipft in its original position until being towed a torn guard rail along the psi u curve and a damaged carman ghia are the result of two separate automobile accidents on saturday night in volving lehigh students see concert page 6 see two page 9 see severe page 6
