provement company and thru the latter with the philadelphia electric thereby bringing into existence the largest super power combine in the world thus mr reinicker is in the thick of modern super-power development he is an attrac tive capable young man of an extremely pleasing personality and his address will be well worth the while of any and all lehigh students as this is the first meeting of the mechanical engineering society it is especially urged that all sophomores in the m e course and who are not mem bers of the society come to this meeting and get acquainted with the student organization of their department it is also pointed out that freshmen are 1 most welcome and that the at tendance at these meetings of any first year men who have an inclination toward mechanical engineering will do much to help them make up their minds definitely eats and smokes will be served and the prospect is a splendid meeting the freshman team which will line-up against muhlenberg on saturday in the opening game of the schedule will differ in some respects from the one which the sophomores held to a scoreless tie on founder's day the line-up has not been definitely announced and a great deal depends on the showing made by the players in the va rious scrimmages which were held this week however it is quite certain that the backfield will be shifted around ostey ttate has been having elliott play the quarter-back position nearly the entire week and it seems almost certain that he will play in this position against muhlenberg butler one of the backs show ing the most promise was de clared inelligible because he had played with the freshman team of drexel institute his ab sence will be missed in the back field but the coaches are prin cipally concerned may have been the cause of the me diocre showing the squad was put through another vigorous scrimmage on wednesday and in this practice television will be the subject of c francis jenkins wash ington is benson who is considered next to cox of peftn state the best cross country man in college ranks coach moakley is known to turn out exceptional hill and date teams at cornell so he probably has developed several other near-stars that cross country is a popular sport at cornell is proved by the fact that more than a hundred men are out daily for practice the course at ithaca is four and one-half miles long and though it has no long climbs it has several short steep and difficult hills only two of the brown and white men have run the course before two years ago when lehigh ran against cornell there was an inch of snow on the ground and the course was very muddy in spots and the temperature was hovering around the freezing point at that time cornell beat lehigh 21-34 it is expected
