first dual track meet of season taylor field the scene of battle for united states soc cer title lehigh scores five runs in sec ond inning anderson has eight strike-outs second intercollegiate match to be played on saturday at baltimore score 7 to 1 outcome important victory for lehigh virtually means southern title for season of 1915 albrecht twombley and fishburn make home-runs team totals eight hits on saturday afternoon may ist at 2 o'clock lehigh will meet buck nell on the l'pper field in a dual track meet bucknell has a fast team and so far has made some very good records so a very close and interesting contest is expected lehigh's entries are as follows : — 100-yard dash — morrissey sproul and snyder 220 yard dash — snyder and mor rissey quarter mile — carlson hanway half mile johns hopkins in lacrosse and the game promises to be a hard one the hopkins team has so far had a quite successful season as shown by their record of no defeats and one tie game further interest in the game is added by the fact that a victory over hopkins will mean that le high has virtually won the cham pionship of the southern division of the intercollegiate league the last league game will be ship of the united states in the last game of the season both teams have made enviable records for the season and are with out doubt the best in the country out of 33 games played this season bethlehem has won 29 lost 1 and tied 3 the celtic club has won 28 games lost 2 and tied 2 bethlehem has scored 159 goals and had 27 goals scored against them the celtic team scored 118 goals and had 16 scored again-t them the only defeat suffered by bethlehem was at the hands of the celtic club at brooklyn earlier in the season 1 . last year the bethlehem club won the national championship the father dr j r mott general secretary world's student christian federa tion through china and many other foreign countries in the interest of humanity he has been actively en gaged in numerous college and uni versity campaigns and is in many ways following in the footsteps of his illustrious parent mr mott has been quite active in athletics having won his p in football worked with the wrest ling course they propose to follow next term on friday afternoon at 2.35 the lehigh university tennis quartet will leave with the lacrosse team for baltimore saturday morning the tennis team will meet johns hopkins college in a match which ought to prove close then the team will leave for annapolis where in the afternoon a match will be played with the middies lehigh lost her first tennis match which was with hill school but navy also lost her first match which was with harvard both lehigh and the navy are in better trim now and a good match is expected then too the lehigh quartet will have good warming-up with hopkins in the morning and should be in the better fighting form the whole team had not been de cided upon thursday morning three members had been picked : powers teeple and purple while the fourth man was to be picked from the palmer-oswald match glee club leader this afternoon at 4 o'clock the lehigh and muhlenberg baseball nines will meet on taylor field muhlenberg comes here with a sol id reputation from past work on the diamond this season and this with the interest usually coupled with games between these two ins titutions insures a good and fast played match doolan formerly of the phillies and now of the balti more federals said that muhlen berg has one of the strongest col lege nines he has ever seen and that coming from a player like doolan means lehigh lehigh easily defeated gettys burg on wednesday afternoon by a score of 7to 1 most of lehigh's scoring was done in the second in ning when five runs were tallied hall got a hit in the first inning and finally reached third only to be put out by lees at home williams was put out on first and rowe re tired the side while trying to steal second albrecht the first man up for le high knocked out a home-run san ford singled wynne took first base on ball's and anderson buried and reached first sanford was put out at home by mahaffie twombley knocked a home-run over the fence and brought in anderson and wyn nie chenoweth hit a single and reached second on the right-fielder's error fishburn the next up struck out keady hit a single and stole second base chenoweth scored the last run of the inning lees struck out in this inoinig every man was at bat on the lehigh team gettysburg's only run came in in the third inning ikler singled and came home on an error by keady lehigh did not score in this inning mahaffie drove a long hit down left field in the fourth but by good fielding was held to first base no runs were scored in this inning im the fifth inning ikler got a single and reached second on san ford's error but did not score ke ady reached first on an error but was put out on second lees made third but was put out there al brecht made third and sanford second but wynne's fly was caught by williams closing the inning anderson struck out two men in the sixth mahaffie singled but was put out on second albrecht caught two flies making two outs in the seventh and an derson struck the third man out fishburn scored the third home-run of the game in this inning by a long drive through center field twombley came to the front in the eighth making a spectacular catch of a foul ball connell who took san ford's place in center field hit a single stole third and came home on wynne's sacrifice this ended the scoring for the game maginnes replaced keady in this inning anderson played his usual star game striking eight men out and pas-ing only one albrecht and fishburn also starred for lehigh outside of the second inning howard pitched a good game for
