new york university will not take place tomorrow as scheduled the new york authorities requested that the game be called off as they were unable to have a soccer team this year their new gym now under con struction utilizes all the for mer soccer playing field and they were unable to obtain a new field in time lehigh is added to penn's foot ball schedule light of the marked improve ments in the lehigh eleven muhlenberg's game saturday against f & m proved to be no index to irresistible playing on the part of the winners for franklin and marshall offered no stiff resistance its team has made a very inconsequen tial showing this year and is in nowise improving while lehigh has been coming forward with a longer stride every time its last stride was almost long con on page 3 col 6 lehigh tomorrow joins the colleges of america in paying tribute to the noble founder of the popular sport of football — walter camp when the brown and white takes the field to fight for supremacy over muh lenberg the student body is re quested to bestow a few mo ments of thought upon the memory of this man below is an article telling of the things in walter camp's life that made him such an uplifting influence in the realm of sport other important business is disposed of at board meeting tomorrow's game is turning point soph cabinet and council meet the smoker tonight ushers in the observance of another dads day — the best one ever held at lehigh the smoker which is to be a pep meeting preparatory to to morrow's game will show the dads a specimen of what a real lehigh pep meeting is talks will be given by bosey reit er and art cusick and box ing and wrestling matches will also be staged for the enter tainment of the dads the us ual amount of good smokes music by the band and noise and cheering by an enthusiastic crowd is expected to make this smoker one of the most success ful ever staged in the lower gym because the faculty refused to grant the petition for release from classes the students will be obliged to attend all classes scheduled for tomorrow morn ing this curtailment of the con on page 3 col 3 officers plan social activi ties — judicial body punishes frosh a victory would foretell success against bucknell and rutgers outlook bright leniency shown built on the lines of a run ner with keen expressive brown eyes walter camp was a lead er in all schoolboy sports when victories — st bonaventure 9-7 gettysburg 15-6 lebanon valley 6-0 and f and m 20-0 but there is nothing startling in all this when seen in the after accounting for two performances in direct contrast victory by a perfect score and defeat by a single point on successive saturdays the le high cross-country squad con fronts a lull in its program as no meet is scheduled for to morrow the members of university of pennsylvania football team for the season of 1927 and among the colleges included on this schedule was lehigh university at a meet ing of the board of control of athletics held monday night this rumor was confirmed and on october 22 of next year the brown and white team will journey to philadelphia and play the quakers at franklin field this will be the first time in over thirty years that lehigh has played perm in foot ball the last game in which the two teams met was played in 1896 as a result of this season's game with brown the bears are negotiating with lehigh for a home and home schedule by this it is meant that brown wants to play lehigh in foot ball every year play at provi dence one year and at bethle hem the next year this is con on page 2 col 5 with only four more games to complete her season lehigh's football team will come on the field in the first of these games determined to win them all to morrow's battle with muhlen berg means to lehigh the turn ing expressive photographs will lend beauty meaning and action to the content an out standing feature will be an op en view pictorial section of the campus this will give the readers a realistic accurate idea of the beauties of the le high campus hardly less prominent will be the generous pictoral treatment of the col lege-year section the active pictures are intended to give a broader and fuller class of 1927 as individuals or as a con on page 3 col 3 the parent chapter of this society was founded at colum bia university there has been a branch at lehigh for about a year the present chapters are nine in number and are lo cated at university of pitts burg western reserve geor the lehigh chapter of the spiked shoe society met today at 4:30 in the trophy room the business of new elections for the present year and the question of extending new chap ters was taken up during the past summer propaganda of the society was widely spread and as a result many requests have been received this fall concern ing the possibility of the estab lishment of new chapters the mining and metallurgi cal society held its first meet ing of the year in williams hall thursday evening mr howard eckfeldt head of the mining department introduc ed the speaker of the evening professor miller professor of geology at lehigh university who told about his geological trip through the different coun tries of europe professor miller first gave a short history of the develop ment of the structure of the earth he then discussed fully the different geological condi tions in the various countries of europe con on page 3 col 2 the meeting was well at tended with the exception of the freshmen this was prob ably due to the fact that the the lehigh library was recently very fortunate in be ing the recipient of a presenta tion of books by mrs robert peary the widow of the late admiral robert peary there are five volumes all containing the story of the discovery of the north pole by the explorer and many statistics gathered by the expedition these should be of particular interest to the lehigh student as robert peary jr is now at tending lehigh after having re turned from a trip to green land with the putnam expedi tion he was chief engineer of the ship morrissey which took the expedition to the far north in addition to this presenta tion several volumes on shakespeare mostly of a criti cal nature have been purchas ed by the library for use in the english drama course many changes have taken place in the library this year the first balcony has been al most entirely rearranged the technical periodicals which were formerly on this balcony have been moved to the basement this is more or less an incon venient place but space had to be made for more important booksj the books in many of the stacks on the first floor con on page 3 col 6 the prior memorial project has been in entire charge of the omicron delta kappa and inasmuch as the funds for the memorial were collected from virtually every member of the student body it was deemed ad visable to print the following report in order that the stud ents might have an itemized ac count of how the money that they so willingly subscribed was used con on page 2 col 4 the final report of the prior memorial committee of the omicron delta kappa was re ceived and accepted by that senior honorary society at its last meeting on october 21st the report submitted by charles k zag 26 chairman of the committee is itemized on tuesday evening a meet ing of the musical clubs was called professor harry fretz was unanimously elected to the position of advisor to the clubs succeeding dr horace w wright who on account of his duties at the university was unable to assume the advisor ship for this year last year's productions were a huge success and every ef fort is being turned to making this season a better and great er musical year for the clubs and for lehigh this year's musical creations are to be em bodied in a different form plans now being formulated for a harmonization of the classical and the modern trend in or chestral selections it will be remembered by those fortunate to have heard the orchestra last season that the music was of a distinctly classical type ap preciation of that form of com position comes after long asso ciation with musical values this perhaps more than any other element has prevented the clubs from enjoying their full measure of patronage and popularity which they so well deserve therefore it has been considered advisable to instill into the concerts a popular note con on page 3 col 2 the opening kick-oft to-mor row at 12:30 on taylor field will see a strong muhlenberg frosh team lined up against the powerful representatives of lehigh 30 the freshmen from allen town will present a strong ag gregation of players led by beanie borrelli the younger brother of the muhlenberg ace who is so well known through out this region young borel li a half-back who bids fair to equal his brother in football prowess is ably supported by a fast and shifty backfied and a heavy line which provides good interference at all times the strength of this combination is well attested to by the fact that the allentown collegians ran up a score of 32-0 against the lehigh varsity scrubs two weeks ago at muhlenberg the lehigh frosh will like wise put a strong and well drill ed eleven on the field in an ef fort to bring about the defeat of the rival institution the freshmen have acquitted them selves well this year consider ing the difficult schedule with which they were confronted the
