a meeting of the sophomore cotillion club was held at the delta tau delta house on sunday morn ng owing to the mckmtut weather there was a rathe 1 sm il attendance and little business was transacted the various committees reported and the 14th of december was de cided upon for the date of the first ance a very important business meet ing will be held at the delta tan house next sunday at n o'clock a m and all the members are re quested to be present mustard and cheese aj special business meeting of the mustard and cheese associa tion was held monday evening at the regular meeting place a new constitution was adopted and pre liminary plans for the proposed easter week trip were discussed there will be another meeting monday 19th 8 p m all members are urgently requested by the offi cers to attend professor joseph w richards of the metallurgical department ad dressed the christian association meeting on sunday evening he began by a quotation from an emi nent belgian who asked are americans formulating the reli gions of the future this belgian went on to show that among amer ican churches theories and dogmas are giving way to christian prac tices and it is the doing good thai is now emphasized rather than the beliving certain things the one aim of raising mankind is uniting all of the different denominations where before different doctrines di vided them prof richards brought out the fact that certain things that were believed as a mat ter of course by our parents are now generally accepted and that this change is all toward the princi ples which christ taught us no one has ever set forth as clearly as did christ the fact that when we do even a small deed for the least of these we are adding to the right side of our character our thoughts words and actions comprise what we are and purity requires the highest in each one of these the highest aim of man is to build a godlike character the laws of cause and effect are just as invariable in religion as in scienc and it is perfectly certain that what a man sows that will he reap prof richards ended his talk with his text from the 62nd psalm unto thee o lord belongeth mercy ; for thou renderest to every man according to his work this week is the week of pray er for college men through out our country and the association will observe it by holding short meetings each morning in christ mas hail from 7.45-71.55 the topics and leaders for the different mornings are as follows : monday prayer c m dan iels 07 tuesday friendship c h wilcox 07 wiednesdav the association — carrington howard thurs college s r young 04 friday what is it to be a chris tian j p lynch 08 on dr dlr inker's authority at tendance at these meetings will be equivalent to chapel attendance and it is hoped that they will be attend ed bricker 95 is sojourning in lititz pa in a very interesting game of foot ball abounding with sensation al plays lehigh defeated new york university saturday 27 to 11 in the ist half lehigh completely outplayed n y u gaining over 300 yds rushing and securing 22 first downs while n y u secured only 2 first downs and rushed the ball 35 yds in all lehigh was ex tremely unfortunate in this half scoring only 10 points as she lost the ball three times by fumbling and penalties after having carried the ball to within a few yds of n y us goal line lehigh won the toss and received the kick off fulton getting it and running it back 15 yds to the 40 yds line treat gained 8 yds on the next play and aman followed with 18 yds more n y u then got the ball on a fumble but after failing to gain a first down on 2 attempts van home punted to fulton le hieh then rushed the ball to n y us 20 yd line in which mercur and treat aided materially by 2 good runs but here the n y u defense braced and held lehigh for downs they gained 3 yds on two attempts and punted to fulton aman and mercur together made a first down and spiers broke away for a 20 yd run after mercur had gained 10 yards through the line lehigh fumbled on an attempted run around right end and n y u got the ball on their own 3 yd line they were penalized half this dis tance for hurdling and van home punted to fulton who failed to run it back ■after spiers had gained 15 yds lehigh was penalized 15 yds for using arms they failed to make up this distance and lost the ball on n y u's own 25 yd line after brown had gained 4 yds and van home 2 yd more n y u innted badly and porter got the ball on their 30 yd line aman broke away for 15 yds mercur and treat made it a first down on 7 and 4 yards respectively and spiers went over for the tally of the game spiers th^n kicked the s'oal score lehigh 6 n y u o n y u preferred to kick off and treat received the ball and ran it out of bounds at the 35 yd line spiers gained 15 yds and carey sot the ball for n y u on a short kick on his own 45 yd line fulton then broke through and got the ball on a forward pass aman made 20 yds spiers lost on a poor pass from center porter re covering the fumble after gaining first down on a fake-kick and for ward pass lehigh failed to gain and spiers dropped a goal from the 20 yd line continued on fourth page glee club a very well attended glee club rehearsal was held in christmas hall on saturday afternoon at 1.50 o'clock the singing as yet is of standard songs but after the final selections of men for the club r made new songs will be taken up the club will consist of twenty men to be chosen by mr shields our organist the rehearsal was conducted by leader reel manager van vleck has arranged some good trips and considering the large number of men trying for positions a successful season may be expected the following is a list of men trying for positions : 1907 — baker taylor swope gross brown brown s
