flagpole at 7 30 from where they shall march to the upper fiield led by the band pat pazzetti will start the battle off by giving a short talk that will make every fel ow feel like beating lafay ette single-handed during this period there will be a huge bonfire to show the maroon and white that old south mountain is in for action this pep inoculation in the form of a rally is a new plan at lehigh replacing the old smokers of previous years opening practice of basketball season wednesday in gym uled as an easy encounter to pre cede the lafayette game it has since turned out that with stuhldreher's four horseman coaching villanova is in a class with most of the teams on the brown and white schedule jack hayes who was injur ed in the tilt with georgetown will probably be available on the other hand coach bo dies weldon has developed one of the strongest freshman teams lafayette has had for a long time their power was shown last saturday when they defeat ed the rutgers first year men by a 20-0 score and anyone who saw the rutgers frosh in action on taylor field some weeks ago realize that this is no small ac complishment however be tween the lehigh and lafayette frosh there exists the same in tense rivalry as between the varsity elevens and previous scores mean nothing at all both teams will be out to win and con on page 3 col 6 on saturday november 14 the lehigh yearlirigs journey to easton to meet the strong la fayette frosh eleven the ma roon are undefeated up to date and hope to make this their sev enth straight victory on the other hand the brown and white frosh hope to end a rath er poor season in a bla?e of glory by beating their ancient rivals the lehigh first year men have lost every contest up to date but displayed a marked im provement in last saturday's game holding the strong mer cersburg eleven to a 12-0 score mercersburg was only able to score one touchdown ' and that came as a result of a blocked punt the frosh seem to have been running in hard luck all season last saturday being the first time they displayed any with football season drawing to a close everyone is looking with increased interest toward the last three games of the sea son the squad is in good shape in spite of the many injuries and a good showing is expected of the brown and white on saturday the lehigh warriors clash with the strong eleven from villanova after last week's encounter the team saw red and the spirit of do-or-die is instill ed in every man on the squad coach wendell has spent the week ironing out the mistakes that showed up last week in the game with georgetown with shimmy harmon bacx on the line and dot mellinger in the backfield again the team is greatly strengthened both in defensive and offensive playing the villanova game was sched beaux arts society holds initial meet coach lingle gives talk to squad on fundamentals five veterans back honorary frat holds meeting prospects bright final run for brown and white hill and dalers prof palmer describes policy of the society also speaks on ballads will compete in middle at lantic intercollegiates tomorrow o d k formulates plan for a charlie prior memorial scholarship on saturday the lehigh soc cer team will meet the booters from the university of pennsyl vania in the third league game of the season the brown and white cohorts have been well seasoned by meeting some of the best teams in their class al though defeated in the last game by the navy the game was not a league one and the standing of the teams remains unchang ed lehigh is in the league with swarthmore haverford university of pennsylvania and lafayette and by its victory over army showed that it is very rapidly approaching the peak of its form the daily practice has taken out the ruf fles in play and there remains a well oiled machine moving with perfect cordination the back field in particular has presented a stone wall defense to all op ponents nevins of the line is the greatest luminary on the of fense and collins seems to stand out on the defense grouped around these two men are per fect working cogs which per form their important functions with exactness con on page 4 col 1 coach carpenter has molded a team which has every semblance election system officers elected ordnance unit established in lehigh r 0 t c new course offers interesting field to students in ad vanced work the import ant subjects brought to their attention the meeting did not adjourn until a late hour the question of having a num ber of smokers previous to the lafayette game was discussed but it was decided that the us ual one big smoker and pep meeting on the friday night preceding the game would be more advantageous the foot ball coaches objected to more than one saying that one real live members of the beaux arts so ciety many of whom were freshmen at the first meeting of the year held monday eve ning in coppee hall in a short talk prof palmer hastily out lined the policy of the arts and science club telling something of its long history after which he spoke in a most delightful and entertaining manner of the hans breitman ballads writ con on page 4 col 3 teamwork good when the brown and white basketeers assembled in the gymnasium wednesday after noon for the initial practice of the season there were five of last year's letter men present and indications point to a suc themselves keen competition will mark the battle for berths and no letter man is sure of his position unless he lives up to requirements and shows the stuff to hold down the job the local circle of omicron delta kappa which was recent ly established at lehigh held a regular meeting in drown hall on wednesday at which time several matters of interest to all students were discussed two of these questions which were given the most consideration were an appropriate memorial for charlie prior and the adop tion of the new point system by which men will be elected to this honorary fraternity 1 con on page 3 col 5 lafayette tickets prof larkin talks before a town club team pointing hard for lafayette game intensive practice and long drills mark work of week speaks to four square mem bers on the training of an engineer regulars return knapp also talks con on page 2 col 6 judging from the perfor mance of the lehigh junior varsity soccer team last wed nesday afternoon lehigh will not lack good soccer players for at least three years they de feated the crack liberty high team on the bethlehem steel field by the score of ito 0 the game was hotly contested and lehigh's victory was not certain until the final whistle blew ear ly in the first quarter ulmer kicked a goal after some bril liant teamwork by his mates in working the ball into position on next saturday the lehigh cross country team will engage in its last competition of the sea son the harriers will travel to new york to take part in the middle atlantic states cross country run for the intercolle giate championship at one p m they are scheduled to toe the mark on the van cortland park course there are six other teams entered,~one representing each of the following institu tions dickinson alfred la fayette rutgers union and new york university under whose auspices the race is be ing conducted each team is to be composed of seven men of vhom only the first five count in scoring there will also be in dividual entries from other col leges in this association the outstanding one being lewis of swarthmore judging by past performances the most dangerous contenders will be lewis of swarthmore totten of union bayley of dickinson west and farnham of lafayette halton of n y u and brennan of rutgers le high undaunted by this formid able array of entries pins her hopes on her valiant team and looks to see her men well up in front at the finish aitken and con on page 3 col 3 lehigh university was ably represented at the weekly meet ing of the allentown four square club by professor f v larkin of the mechanical en gineering society the meeting was held tuesday evening at the hotel allen and the occasion was one that brought out a good representation of the member ship of the club dr larkin was the first con on page 3 col 1 the lehigh ordnance r 0 t c unit introduced in the brown and white for septem ber 25 1925 met for the first time on october 6 due to the late arrival of lieut taber the ordnance officer in charge de spite the late start made by the new unit forty potential ord nance students are now receiv ing their basic training with the established infantry unit and classes for the ten students in the advanced course have been conducted in full stride since october bth the number of students au thorized for the advanced course of the third and fourth years is at present restricted to ten by regulations based on ap propriation etc the ten stu dents enrolled for the current year all juniors are distributed in dourses as follows : bush r m m e passant j e m e robinson k by way of the en trances as indicated on the tickets it is evident that there will be less congestion if these regulations are followed by all the students con on page 4 col 1 the mustard and cheese club held their regular weekly meet ing wednesday night in drown hall the meeting consisted of a number of reports from heads of various departments of the organization and from various committees a number of plans concerning the annual show were discussed the usual bus iness proceedure was carried out negotiations are under way to stage the annual mustard and cheese production all ob stacles so far as the certainty of staging the production were overcome when the faculty ap proved of the holding of the per formance for two nights in bethlehem and four nights on the road the cast will be ex cused from their classes on these days the show will be held in bethlehem on the nights of ap ril the 16th and 17th after a layover of one day due to it be the first of the intensive ses sions which will lead up to the lafayette game and planned by coach wendell for his lehigh men took place in taylor stadium on tuesday afterndon and then after dinner the play ers were again assembled in coppee
