the first meet which comes off in a little over two weeks is with rutgers ; it will be followed by one with haverford and then comes the one with lafayette while it is not wise to predict too much so far in advance still it can be said with all confidence that captain klar and his men will acquit them selves bravely and cause lehigh to be proud of them the following list of the squad is complete including the names of those who are coming out this week if any have been omitted it is their duty to come out and re port to dr davis and captain klar and they will see that they are ad ded to the several very good men among them who have already shown that they can make their forum meeting election of officers for next year the regular meeting of the for um was held in the forum rooms saucon hall tuesday may 5 at 7.30 p m the officers for next year were elected at this meeting and are as follows : president wes ton 04 vice president hodgkin 05 ; secretary seacrest 05 and treasurer merriman 05 after the election of officers there was some discussion concerning the financial status of the society the several debates and the intercol legiate oratorical contest in which the forum participated have proven rather expensive this year and as a result the treasury is at a low ebb an effort will now be made to col lect all dues and the committee hav ing this work in charge would like all members to be prepared for a call the question for debate resolved that municipalities should control their light and water supplies was discussed on the affirmative by sea crest 05 and martin 05 and on the negative by ehlers 05 gilmore 06 the judges fleck 03 morgan 04 and flodgkin 05 rendered their decision in favor of the negative the debate was n very close and interesting one after a resume of national affairs by baumgartner 04 and of international affairs by wes ton 04 the meeting adjourned bethlehem art exhibi tion an exhibition of modern paint ings mainly by american artists will be held in the chapel of the mo ravian seminary during bach week from may nth to 16th the exhi bition is under the direction of mr gelhaar of this university and miss mumford of philadelphia who is a sister of mrs john e stewart and is a well known exhibitor in this country and in the paris salon a number of prominent citizens the list beginning alphabetically with dr drown received the annual scholastic track meet which was instituted last year will be held again on may 16th more than two months ago the athletic committe began preliminary work for this event invitations were followed by circulars and entry blanks and some five hundred schools including representative institutions in eight states were in vited to send teams to compete for field and track honors ' thirty-two favorable answers have been re ceived one hundred and seventy five men have been entered and be fore next saturday when entries are closed there is promise of even more being added to the list philadelphia will send the largest representation with new york second the events and records made in each event last yeai are as follows ioo yds dash 10 3-5 seconds 220 yds dash 25 seconds 440 yds dash 56 1-5 seconds 880 yds run 2.13 4-5 1 mile run 5.20 1-5 120 yds hardies 20 4-5 seconds 220 yds hurdles 30 seconds high jump 5 ft 3 1-2 inches broad jump 19 ft 7 3-8 inches 12 lb shot put 37 visitors will be entertained by the fraternities and clubs on the afternoon of the 1 6th they will be given a spread in the gymnasium the track is now being much improved and will be in splendid condition on the day of the meet track team team indications point to a winning the prospects for a winning track team this year grow brighter as the days grow longer in fact this spring there is more reason for making prophecies in regard to the brilliant work that may be expected from the team in its meets than there has been for sev eral years and all this in spite of the fact that a large part of some of the best men in last year's team are not out at all this spring before easter the outlook was not bright at all but since then men have^been doing regular work and the situation has gradually changed so that now it is all that could be desired the credit for much of this improvement should be given to dr davis ; he has worked hard and faithfully at getting men to come out and try for the team and coaching them in their work after they started every afternoon a squad of twenty or more reports on the athletic field and they go through the various track and field events ; some of the men who expect to try for the team have been unable to report regularly so far and so this number will prob ably be increased still more within the next week the work has been mostly of a preliminary character and only within the last day or so have the men attempted to try themselves out at all
